Improved tougher Abazigal ARGHHHH

Some of you may have read my earlier post on traps being too overpowered. For those who haven't I am taking a thief from BG1 too the end of TOB with the David Gaiders improved enemy mods, back in the previous topic I said I no longer felt that I had earned the satisfaction for playing through solo because the traps finnish any challenges off instantly........I know take that back.

So far Improved demogorgon, Illasera and yagashura have all been defeated but now im upto abazigal and I am really stuck. Through the use of Timestop, blackblade of disaster and imprisonment scrolls
I have managed to get rid of the purple dragon the little dragons and the salamanders, but I cannot finish off Abazigal. I have exhausted my supply of the above mentioned scrolls by the time i have gotten abazigal on his own and there are no more left in the entire game so I now have to resort to close combat.

the problem now is that he has the imprisonment spell and I have no protection from it, normally I would turn into the slayer as it was immune when i fought kangaxx in SOA but that does'nt seem to work any suggestions?

if your a theif, one of your high level abilities (cant remember its name all the sudden) gives you protection from imprisonment doesnt it?

all else fails, did you pick up the protection from magic scrolls in SoA from ribald? those will work just fine if you have em

Well as for Ribald Its a little late for that he's long gone, I'll have to check the high level abilities never knew there was one that protected from imprisonment, although I know barbarian rage does.

Just finished the game with a solo Assassin, on Core rules with the David Gaiders tougher baddy mods, and I am quite pleased with my self. and after al that effort improved abazigal wasn't even the hardest of the five in my opinion I thought Balthazar was much tougher, But I prevailed in the end (Simularicum was what i cast in the end I put my black blade of disaster and time stop scrolls in my quick slots then cast Simularicum, this technique allows you to effectivly use your scrolls twice or more times if you have lots of similaricum)

well if you could use timestop with your theif another thing you could add to make the jopb really easy is shapechange, shapechange cast first just dont change yet. then cast time stop. now change into mindflayer on your special ability icon attack abazigal now and viola 2to 3 hits and he goes down without a fight

I can not express how much reloads, and hours and hours and hours it took though. I ended up getting lucky with his imprisonment spell as well, he cast earth quake on me and an earth elemental appeared which was hostile to him and by some shear luck he cast his imprisonment spell on the earth elemental, another thing I discovered is that you can save in battle, I had grandmaster armour (Haste) and the amulet of cheetaur speed (I think thats what its called +2 movement rate) Anyway simply lure him to the very edge of the map and then run to the other side and keep your finger on the quick save button, It will say cant save whilst monsters are near but a few seconds before he catches you up and before he is visible it will save [img]smile.gif[/img]

OK Daan here is my story for the last battle (There are no improved mellisan mods unfortunatly (apart from ascension, but I doubt I would do THAT battle)

first off the wand of ressurection and ruby ray of reversal are a must have (wand of ressurection on a Solo game, I here you say?? this is a very useful item as if you use it on a non dead party member it acts like the Heal spell (full recovery)).

Another point of interest is you can change into the slayer more than once in this battle, each time you beat mellisan your slayer change skill is restored so you can use it again.

I found the hardest fight with mellisan is the first one as you dont have time to prepare before the battle so here is how I did it first off before you leave your pocket plane cast improved haste on your self (The cheetaur amulet) leave the plane, once there cast use the wand of ruby reversal so see is vunerable to your damage then change to the slayer with improved haste you will have 10 attacks and can make mince meat with her(Note it took my a lot of reloads to get this right as her summoned fiends can make mince meat of me, luckily in one of the reloads she summoned bone fiends and i was immune to their damage (Tears of bhaal rewards from SOA ummune to +1 and lower weapons). after she summoned these mellisan was easy.

The air elementals were not that hard compare to the other fights in the game so I will leave you to deal with them. Now before you stop the flow to her power set some traps where she appears I set 7 snares the first time, as soon as she appears they will take her out (God I love traps) Now for the ice enemies (I had some trouble with these as the trolls have the ability to stun you). I set a set a time stop trap changed to the slayer again and took out the trolls first. The ice prince isn't to tough just attack until your are near death then pull out and heal he moves slow so you have plenty of time.

Now I used my spike traps I took 4 to take her out the third time.

now for the solar fight, I could not take all the enemies out here with out dying so set your traps where mellisan forms before taking them on, 4 spike traps i used again). Now hit slayer change and use some form of protection from death magic (I used thief skill avoid death). Now rush in and take out the solar, wand of resurrection pays for its self here as you will take lots of damage, once the solar falls cut of the flow (note you only have to finish off the solar to do this). Now mellisan wil appear again and because you set the traps before the solar fight wil set them off again, these should kill her out right. and thats my story hope it helps daan.

NOTE: I had 150 points in set snares, and by the end of the game my stats were: 20 20 20 12 15 12

(note these are not hacked, the original stats were: 18, 18, 18, 10, 11, 10 I got the tome of str, dex, con, int, Wis and char in BG1 there are 3 tomes for Wis, and a got a furthur point added to each from the machine of lum the mad )

I've read a lot about that final battle and it's very hard ... but i indeed have ascension .... final battle takes my frame-rate to
0.1 frames/sec., but that's really not a problem .. since it only takes one frame to see my party dying
-Sendai casts timestop
- improved balthazar is immune and kicks everybody, gets of a few
Lunar and solar stances ... and everybody dies in a frenzy of kicking and explosions

Anywayz, im letting that fight sit tight in my savegame for a while, gonna be soloing a kensai-mage to divert my attention for a while [img]smile.gif[/img]

And again ... Incredible Job, i like the RoR-tip [img]smile.gif[/img]

I think I am going to have install and play ascension, but not solo though [img]smile.gif[/img] lol, I had enough trouble fighting them indivdually, so all together I have no chance.

I have an ascension question aswell, does ascension change any part of SOA, I have heard that bodhi can join your party so I assume that it does, but I could always be wrong.

P.S about balthazar in sendai's timestop, In the pocket plane quest the ravager is immune to timestop, have you tried turning into it in this battle? you might be able too keep bathazar away from the rest of your party long enough for the timestop to wear off
