For all the (would-be)fans of Kotor 2, here is the good news. The 'Restoration Project' (a group of dedicated fans, working on restoring most of the cut-content) is nearing completion, and the unofficial deadline is januari. For a progress report: http://www.team-gizka.org/

Also, another group is working on restoring the cut robot-planet m4-78. I always felt this was a lost cause, due to the lack of content on this developed by Obsidian, but judging by their screenshots, they're doing pretty well. Their website:

Looks like we might just get the game we were promised.

ps.

any news on Kotor3?

Sweeeeeet. BTW KOTOR 3 is going to be awesome. Even now, my "spidey" sense is tingling about it.

As long as KOTOR 3 is actually a finished product. I'd hate for it to be unfinished again.

This could start a new trend in the gaming industry. Announce your project, do half, and leave it to the gaming community to fix your mistakes.

KOTOR 2's half finished game was still better then alot of "done and done" games that have been released.

I have mixed feeling about those restauration projects. I've never been a fan of user made stories. Try as they might, it will never really be the vision of the creators.

From the little parts left in the game, we might think the devs were heading in a certain direction, while they might have been planing a surprise at the end, and we wouldn't know and just end it with the obvious stuff, for example.

Hm.. I don't think it's (TeamGizka's restoration projection) a user made story. They've found scripts, sound files and several other useful files that gave a clear indication towards what Obsidian originally wanted. Besides, it can't possible get any worse.
Yeah, I followed their project and listened to the sound files and dialogs were the characters seem to end up killing each others, but like I said, who know if they wouldn't have suddently seen the light, turned around and joined the Light Side or something like that? Or what if they planed the Main character to shop up at those fights and give him a chance to influence the events ("Fight for me my minons." or "Stop this, anger lead to the Dark Side.") Or what about the ending? Were the devs planing to change it?

The reason this content was not put in is because it was nmot finished, so obviously not all files can be found in the game. It all make me a little nervous. I wish a dev would involve himself in the project, like with BG2 Ascension.
