FF Tactics for PS1

Hey all,

I have had Final Fantasy Tactics for some time, yet have only played through the first two battles before switching to a different game. I was wondering if this game gets better as time goes on, or if it continues to be a bit of a bore (usually I am not an impatient gamer, but for some reason this game struggles to keep my interest).

Some of the forums for the game that I have looked at have been manned by either FF Fan Boys or FF Haters--which basically means that their opinions, while not useless, are very biased and not very helpful.

I have been a fan of SRPGs since the Shining Force games and I have always liked FF, so I am hoping that the mix between the two will turn out to be good.

Anyway, does this game turn out to be good, or should I stay with the Shining Force and Vandal Hearts games? BTW, I have not yet bought any SRPGS for the PS2 yet--but if you have any reccommendations, please let me know!

FFT is a little bit of more of the same through out, but the characters grow and so do abilities. There is more and more stuff to do and new opponents in the turn-based battles as the game progresses. The story is somewhat secondary to the tactical aspect of the game by design.
