Do RPCs share experience with you?
If so...am I correct in saying that they slow your leveling? However, this might not matter much coz if you're on low lvl, then the monsters are on low lvl as well. Do u guys recommend getting 2 RPCs? thanx !!! |

Yes they slow your leveling and thats why i dont take them.
for your first game its nice but they are as liks as normal characters with some disadvantages so you really do not need them |

you have to share experience poiint woth them. but it's up to you, I like to have more characters. plus having a low level ( with well train skill )is more good than high level ( with not trained skill ).

Yes, they will slow you down experience wise, however you will be able to finish the game no problem, you will have extra people to fight for you after all. Note that if you're quite high level, say 20, if you pick up RPCs for the first time they won't be as experienced as you; I had to take two along with me at that stage and they were about level 15, and coped very poorly with the level of monsters we were fighting because of our higher level. So if you're going with RPCs, try to get them early so you can level them at a similar pace to your own characters

It's up to you, but I always liked to have a full party so I would take 2 RPCs. Yes you level more slowly, but a) that keeps the level of monsters a little lower that are generated and b) gives you more time in between levels to raise your skills. But from a strategy and role playing point of view I like more characters so it didn't matter much to me that I lost some exp for it.

**Might contain spoilers in some sense**
As Gimli said, up to you. Haven't finished the game yet, but I've made a couple observations with my 6 char group (that had Vi along for a while, making it 7) and my latest 3 char group (who haven't had anyone for a longer time, Myles for Vi rescue, and Vi + Myles from rescue to He'li's). On the 6 char group I explored a lot, thus fighting alot more than my 3 char group, who has practically run straight to where I want to go. 6 char group went monastery - arnika - monastery (for the wheel lock) - arnika - cemetary - northern wilderness - trynton - swamp etc. I even did a few rest-until-attacked "tricks" for xp. 3 char group has gone monastery - arnika - trynton - swamp following as direct route as possible trying to avoid initiating combat on the roads. Ran from few fights even, which I couldn't avoid (not because I didn't want the xp, just because the party would have died ![]() I think they're at about the same level now, as my 6 char group was at swamp, lots faster and with a lot less fighting. Skills on the other hand. Since I had 2 fighters in the large group, and none in the current one I'm playing (samurai, ninja, bishop), the monsters tend to last a lot longer giving very high chances for the chars to learn something in each fight. Samurai has his sword at about the same level as he has at around lvl 20 in the other group, and every necessary combat skill (close combat, dual wield, critical strike and sword) beyond the point where I can put points in them (75+). Ninja's critical just passed 100 last night. And since I spent the time practising stealth this time around, it doesn't hurt much that the monsters last longer, since they can't hit me that much anyway Phew, didn't intend to write such a novell ![]() Edit: just reread the first post, and I feel like I posted a bit off topic... ![]() [ 07-15-2002, 01:45 AM: Message edited by: Bomb ] |

Yeah, you'll definitely build skills up higher if the characters have more chances to take swings/cast spells/etc in combat, and with a small party that will be the case. Seems hybrids are pretty ideal then for small groups as you could almost ignore putting any points into their fighting skills and pump their magic skills instead. And since they will level up faster they'd get the higher level spells alot sooner too.
