just want to see if this seems right before i make a party. i am thinking of having characters who have stealth on the front line and flank spots. my reasoning is that i notice monsters often not "see" a stealthy character at all in combat and not attack them. so if i faced a monster that could do only short range melee attacks, then it's possible and more and more probable as stealth goes up that the monster might not attack anyone? they could only reach the "line of stealth" characters. if i had characters in the middle rank with extended weapons as well they could strike and be safe from short range weapons. does this sound about right?

sounds nice, but consider this. what happen if ALL your character are stealthy characters. does this mean monsters can't see anybody in your party and would just stand there and let your party attack it to death?

Heh, if they did it wouldn't bother me one bit, one of the reasons I'm considering this is to have an outer line that doesn't rely so much on armor and HP, and to have flank characters who can take a flank alone and not get singled out if i'm flanked and take alot of attacks. If you can't hit what you can't see then maybe I am on to something. Of course some monsters have extended range melee attacks, others have ranged weapons, and of course others have spells, so this will really help out against short range melee type opponents the most.
I remember hearing from someone who had played a solo faerie ninja and would have alot of rounds go by where the monsters would just defend (due to him being the only target and having a high stealth rating), and that set me to thinking about this party idea. I was thinking of making a monk who i train in staff and who is on one of the flanks; a ninja -> ranger who uses polearms and takes another flank; having RFS with MA and possibly a faerie ninja in the front rank (undecided there still, might take a rogue, maybe a "tank" fighter who i want to draw the attacks to, possibly a dwarf who has the innate damage resistance, i'd go for ironskin and use a shield as well since he'd really get singled out). then two guys in the middle ranks with extended weapons, was thiking of Vi with a polearm and a priest with a staff; and two bishops in the rear ranks who just cast spells.

I've been doing that for more than a month now, getting everybody practise in Stealth. Lots of good hints about getting 100 Stealth for the entire party in a thread about Bards. I'll edit this when i
find out exactly, but you can use Search in the meantime. EDIT: The thread is "Most Powerful Solo: Bard" Anyway, yes, when everyone is stealthy, speedy, and dextrous, not only do you get missed and No Damaged more, you also get a lot of mobs defending all the time. It's also easier to walk around red dots and not even engage them, or to watch the stuff on the road walk by while you stand behind a bush. Really handy combo is Stealth and Chameleon! yes... ive seen that too!
4 char party, all with 100 stealth, and depending on what they are doing some rounds pass without the monster doing anything! most excellent outcome. free paralysis lol

cool..which mean there is no difference between a solo faerie ninja game and six faerie ninja game then? except that your solo faerie ninja game will get higher levels.

Well I guess I don't want to go the route of giving everyone in the party one level of rogue and training them up to 100 in stealth, I want to have "real" stealth characters. And I like to always play a full party, making the parties is 1/2 the fun So if I wanted everyone to have stealth I couldn't take Vi, also would be limited to having monks, rogues and ninjas. The ninja -> ranger is the only guy I have who's not going to be a pure stealth guy in the front lines but he'll probably be a ninja for a fair # of levels before I switch him over to ranger, I want him to build critical strike as well as stealth.
