New to console cheats ... how to make them work?

A friend sent me a list of console cheats for Morrowind (mostly to get some money and raise stats a little)anyway, I tried several of them... some gave me errors, but a few looked like they took (the gold text turned to purple and no errors popped up)but, when I closed it and checked my inventory for new items or stats.. nothing had changed.

My character's name is zamez.. (in case you need it) so if I wanted to put in the cheat code for adding armor.. how would I type it in?

I tried:
zamez->additem daedric-god-helm 1 and it didn't work.. please can someone tell me the correct way to input the different codes?

if this is your first time playing it around dont cheat on it play it thru. i know it takes forever but it makes the game more enjoyable.
cheat afterwards.

well, if you really want to know:

you need to type Player-> for each cheat on you. type the NPC name when you want to add ability/items to NPC

so doesn't matter what char name you have, type Player instead of your char name, then you are set.

for example, add strength to 100

player->setstrength 100

Thanks, I'll try that one... you see I had been either typing in my character name (Zamez) thinking that when it said Player-> they wanted you to use your guys name! duh.. then, I tried it without any name and nothing happens.. so, off I go.. guess it was too obvious~

Here are some:

Player ->

TGM Toggles God Mode.
SetWaterWalking 1 Walk on water.
SetWaterBreathing 1 Breath underwater.
AddItem "Gold_100" x Gives you "x" amount of Gold.
SetFatigue x Sets maximum fatigue to "x" value.
SetMagicka x Sets maximum magic to "x" Value.
SetHealth x Sets maximum health to "x" value.
