How do you kill the Tanarri in Ulgoth's Beard

I have tried everything I can think of, arrows of disspelling, protection from magic, potion of mirror eyes, his gaze attacks knock me down and he just wades through my party, how do you defeat this? I have been trying for over a week and I am so frustrated I'm ready to take a hammer to the game.

Well Sturm there are lots of topics about this but I´ll tell you my usual method:

1- Prepare a cleric or mage with Dispells.
2- Prepare a mage with Otiluke´s Resilient Sphere.
3- Go down the dungeon and cast Otiluke on the Tana´ri (you´ll have to try 2-3 times, he´s magic resistant)
4- Kill all the cultists QUICKLY.
5- Kill the Tana´ri. Each time he casts Death Gaze, dispell on your character or he´ll become a ghoul.

Other people prefer to cast lots of fireballs; with spells, necklaces, potions and arrows of explosion.

I know this sounds shameful, but I summoned 16-20 drizzt to do the job for me. If it really IS costing you a hell of a lot of time then I say do it - there's no harm in cheating so that you can carry on enjoying the game

Hey Wah...maybe we have a lot more in common than we first thought!!
I did the exact same thing when fighting the Demon Knight LOL

Two words, MISCAST MAGIC!!!! I discovered this on accident on about the third try, trying to make the boss cleric mess up. The Tanari cast his spell, and held himself, also, silence 15 foot radius helped. Try to have several dispel magics memorized, and when you see the little cobra icon, cast dispel magic. It will remove it. I haven't had the magic resistance interfere before, but I could have been lucky, there is no such thing as 100%. Good luck.
