Hi,
I made a first atempt at Wiz 8. Built a party of Fighter, Samurai, Bard, Gadgeteer Ranger and Bishop. I did quite well includinhg Arnika... Bard and Bishop keeping bad guys paralized or sleeping the others killing enough.
But then went wandering to Trynton and the swamp and Southern Wilderness... I wasn't using any guides or walktroughs to walk around, so i missed the stairs in trynton...(now i know...). Well, the result is my party was around level 8 and i was facing nightmares, and small packs of air sorceresses that were plainly kicking my butt. I realized i had went beyond what i was supposed to...
Is there any recomendation about what level to be in any given place?

(i thought the game scaled to the level of the party, but if this is true then there was something seriously broken in the way i built it)

Anyway, i'm starting a new game, this time with a fighter a rogue a ninja a ranger, and now 2 Bishops Dualed at low level from psionic and alchemist...)

Any advice? Should i level up in the roads around Arnika? If i just follow the storyline will my party always be expected to be up to the challenges? Or is it better to reach certain levels before attempting to tackle certain opponents? Or does it all come downto party build?

Some area's do have higher level mobs. On average though mostly you will come across anything ranging from 2-3levels below your own level & 2-3levels above your own level at the extremes. (This is really noticeable when you come across stuff on Arnika Road & Arnika - Trynton Road).

A lot of this game comes down to level and party development. Much is scaled to your party, though area is a factor. What may be "high end" along the Arnika road may be "low end" somewhere else.

Generally, you can figure that the farther away you go from town, the more difficult an area will be. But that is not always the case. Many have trouble at the mines with Tanto wasps (LOTS of them). If you go at a low level, say 8/9, the monsters will be much easier, and no Tanto wasps will be around.

Still, I wouldn't recommend the mountain wilderness for a low level party If you find yourself being outclassed by everything you meet, then you're in an area you're not ready for. Back off, level up a bit, and try again later. The game is open enough that you needn't follow any one route specifically.
