Hello friends,

I was wondering if anyone has had the following problem? I have e-mailed tech support but thought I would as here too.

When I leave the monestary and try to zone into anika road (sp) the game goes back to the desktop every time with the following error on the desktop: "Mesh Model in .pvi is wrong length"

Anyone seen this and maybe know some action to take?

PS Thanks for telling me about the res powders earler! My party is all alive now and I am dealing damage once again

For what it's worth, trying copying your Saves directory, uninstall the game, recopy your Saves directory back into place, and try again. Might just work.

Try copying the levels file from the cd to your pc install location. Might be that when you installed the levels file got corrupted.

most likely it's the "levels.slf" file. that has given more people headaches than anything so far. that file is huge and corrupts pretty easily.

i think you should reinstall as suggested above, but make sure you clean your game cds thoroughly before hand, and if you can, clean your cd player too.

did you happen to choose the option of installing "levels" and "cinematics" when you did your install?

if not, then the cd may be dirty and it can't pull up the info needed. if you did, there may be corrupted information. that file gives me trouble everytime i do an install. i had to install 3 times this last time, because of it.

it's possible to do the standard install, then create a file named "Levels" in your main "Wizardry 8" file. at that point you can handcopy the file "levels.slf" off CD3 directly into the folder you created.

sorry, i'm a bit disorganized. let us know what happens.

How nice,

I uninstalled the game after saving the saves folder. After I reinstalled the game I went to restart Windows XP and got a nice blue screen for the first time since installing XP a coulple months ago. I don't even see Wizardry on the computer so I guess XP barfed it out cause it tasted so sour. I will try in stalling yet again and see if it works this time. /shrug

Update!

Well after a couple corrupt installs I finally have everything going good so far. I have reached the city of Arnika and having a great time.

Two of the installes I attempted totally failed. I couldn't even properly uninstall them. I had to delete the Sirtech folder then run regedit to clean out the registry. The install that worked I used a different CD drive. I have a Pioneer 16x DVD and a TDK VeloCD 16/10/40 and the TDK is the one that finally worked. Perhaps the DVD drive is dirty. Who knows. I wasn't able to use the previous save games either. The game would crash when I tried to open the options or load a previous game.

So for now all is good! Here is the party I am using with no plans as of now to multi-profession any of them (that may change):

Dracon Fighter
Mook Ranger
Fairy Mage (should have been called a Wizard IMO)
Elf Monk
Hobbit Rogue
Rawulf Priest

Having a great time with this party.
