i really want to read the xanth books but i'm kind of daunted by the number of them. is there an order i need to read the books , chronological or otherwise?

Read them in order...
"A Spell for Chameleon" (Magic of Xanth #1) "The Source of Magic" (Magic of Xanth #2) "Castle Roogna" (Magic of Xanth #3) What are the bookstores like in Smyrna? Superstores, or just "mom and pop"s? The order isn't necessary but it helps with certain stories; references and such. Some have a huge time difference in between, it just depends. Each book has a listing of all books before it in the series in order. You can use that as a reference.
