Hello everyone again. Was talking with some of you in Undermountain about a monk/PM combo. Just tried to make one on the leveler (Monk20/Wizard8/Palemaster12). First off, what do you all think about that combination? Secondly, why couldn't I get epic spells with that? Book says that you need be epic level (11+ for PM). Do you need a 20 INT to go with it (since I did not have that to get devastating crit)? Let me know what you all think. Having a great time in Undermountain. Thanks again.

Depends what your spellcraft scores are.

You need a high spellcraft to get most epic spells.

The epic feat requirements are a bit of a mess.

You need 16 pale master to get epic spells.

Easy enough to get though, drop wizard down to three or four and you'll have a monk with epic warding.

You could also consider bard. With some skill points in perform a lv3 bard song would give +1 attack and +2 damage. If you took bard to level 8 you'd get another +1 attack.

Nu-uh, you have to have at least 5 levels of Wizard.

Pale Master requires you having access to 3rd level arcane spells.

Bards must not be lawful, while Monks must be lawful. Hard combination to pull off, requres an alignment shift right in the middle of it.

You'll want a spellcraft of 32 for Hellball, a score that'll be mighty hard to get unless you dump all your skill points into that whenever you take a wizard or Pale Master level.

(PS, I made a Bard/Pale Master/RDD in the leveler. Had a ridiculously high natural armor class)

And that's bad because??? The higher the better I say. Xiphias, I'm sorry, but I tend to be slightly jaded about multiclassing monks. Something about that 50 sr at lvl 40. If you want to improve the chance for the undead graft to hit, take fighter, and focus/specialize in unarmed strike, the specialize is for dmg only, but every little bit helps. I believe you could have it in 4 lvls, leaving a little more room for the epic spell acquiring. You may not want to leave the fighter lvls at four, but you could leave them slightly lower with the str scores your talking about.

Hey thanks everyone. As usual, it prompts questions from me. 1) OK, I had a spellcraft of 43 when I had the monk20/wizard8/palemaster12 and still no hellball. 2) Robert, are you talking about not being a monk with the discussion of fighter levels? 3) Why is it 16th level for PM to get epic spells? Seems like with my current plan, I'd only get to 15th level PM?

Life was so much simpler when I didn't read all this stuff on the forums! *grin* One class, 40 levels. . . Thanks for the help.

RTB: Same avatars, different people there.

Again, pale master is yet another case where the requirements don't match the description, you only actually need three levels of an arcane casting class.

You sure Xiphias?

When I messed around with my Bard/PM/RDD build in the leveler, Pale Master was greyed out until I hit Bard level 6.

About when you get third lvl mage spells.
Edit: Sorry, Xiphias, headaches make it hard to pay attention I guess...
