What class are your tanks? If you don't have theives you should at least have a cleric with find traps spell memorized. But, since I'm guessing that you have neither. I'll say go through and hope for the best. Otherwise you need to remake your party.
P.S. remembering where the traps are sprung can also be of some assistance (assuming you need to reload often due to them.)

![]() Cloakwood is not the most critical area to pass without a thief with find/remove traps (Believe me: You will find yourself in much worse situations, without a thief, later on ![]() I passed the cloakwood areas using the 'brute force' method My suggestion is that you change your party to combine some of your artillery fire power with cleric and thiving skills. In other words: Use a mage/thief or a single class thief with a bow and a mage/cleric or a single class cleric with a sling. Or you could combine the skills with your tank and use a fighter/thief or a Fighter/cleric as a tank. Insane

Just keep your characters back. Pick the one with the best save vs spells and slowly edge forward. When you hear the click of the trap being sprung, have the character run back to his friends. With a little luck you'll escape the web entirely or be trapped only for a short while before making the escape. Deal with any monsters following you as you normally would, then wait for the web spell to end and move in to finish any others remaining. It's not the most honourable thing to do, but on the other hand, hanging around waiting for a trap to hit you is not the most sensible thing to do either.

The guys here at Midget Gems have completed the game several times without a thief in the party. If that is what you want to do then go ahead and try it. It certainly makes the game harder and/or more interesting depending on your point of view.
For traps like the ones in cloakwood you are probably safe if you walk into a web trap while in stealth mode. Later on when you come across traps that do big damage, a Mage protected by Mirror Image should do the trick. Where there's a will there's a way. On the other hand Coran is probably waiting near-by if you need him.

A real no-brainer, but still effective, way of dealing with the Web traps is, as Midget Gems mentioned, Stealth. Even when/if you get Webbed, you've still got a good chance of remaining unseen, so the spiders won't attack.
But there's always a chance that you'll fail your Stealth roll while you're helpless, and that, of course, means that you're dead meat. A potion or spell of Invisibility lasts for 12 uninterrupted hours.
