There are a few things I forgot to end. Thank you Nanobyte and Wyvern from your earlier comments.

Okay I suffering from withdrawl now, so I have to talk about the game some more. Again these are only my opinion. I could be wrong.

I forgot to give a run down of the classes I used, and my thoughts about whether they were a good idea or not.

My Paladin (fighter, barbarian) and leader was human male. About 150 HP. Due to my lack of foresight, in needing a Paladin, it took me quite a while to raise his ability points to meet Paladin standards, as his Will and spirituality had a long way to go. I think two characters with spirit spell abilities are very important.

2nd party member, was a Barbarian Dwarf, male. About 165 HP. I think it is a pretty good idea just to have one party member a barbarian. You get lots of hit points and in cases of tough fights, it is not a bad idea to just cast lure on him, so that he takes most of the damage.

3rd party member was a female, human Valkyrie (former Samurai, and fighter). About 120 HP. I was a little disappointed that it took so long to get to a point where you could actually get a Valkyrie as the game was over before her newly acquired status. But she was a Samurai for a long time and a Samurai is definitely very powerful. Especially when she learned doublestrike. It was also very helpful to have someone else with sun spells, for long range battles.

My 4th party member was a human female Zenmaster (former Ninja, monk, and priest). About 105 HP. Like I said it was a mistake to change her from a Monk to a Ninja. She got quite powerful making it to about an 19th level Ninja, but my party was without some powerful vine spells for some time. When she was a priest and a monk I concentrated her on learning spirit spells, and when the best vine spell I had for her was cure poison (a must by the way). But the higher level vine spells are pretty useful.

My 5th character was a male Whiskas Assasin (Samurai, Ninja, Rogue). About 120 HP. Pretty happy all around with my choices for this character. Whiskas have good agility and night vision, which was nice early in the game. It was maybe a mistake to change him from a Ninja to Samurai, but since you can become an Assasin pretty early in the game, it didn't matter, since the Assasin class was incredibly useful, and it was an easy decision to make since my Valkyrie was also a samurai at the time.

Final character was a female Pixie Warlock. About 47 HP. Hmmm...if I had to do it all over again, I might pick another race for her. Pixie's do not get hit a lot in battle by weapons, but as far as spells, poison gas, and crush damage, her poor fortitude just gave her so few HP that she was always a liability in tough fights or situations. I had to reload several times, because she got killed by crush damage or drowning. Perhaps someone could tell me if they put there Warlock as the last member of the party. I thought it was better to put the low HP people there, because they would be attacked less, but being in the last spot always gets you nailed by crush damage. I did find that once my Paladin gained the rebirth spell, once I got her fortitude up to 10 I was able to bring her back to life pretty easily. I know warlock's don't get much HP anyway, but if it is possible for another class to get more, it sure would be nice to have a Warlock with around 70 HP by the end of the game. She did end up having 24 strength by the end of the game due to all the amulets. However, as a pixie she still couldn't carry very much. OR maybe that is a result of being a warlock.

Another bothersome part of the game were Mythirian Wisps, I am not sure why such wimpy creatures could cause so much problems. But having party members go insane is quite problematic I thought. I think it is important that the healer's in the party have good mind protection and high WILL values. When they go insane, you can really be screwed at saving your other party members in a tough fight.

Essential spells: (in no particular order)

Haste, nimble, bloodlust really helps in tough fights to get your characters attack faster.

Invisibility, especially when you have the backstab trait, also your party does get hit a lot less. Also nice if you are tired of fighting pathetic creatures and you just want to get somewhere fast.

Call of home, Create Portal, Teleport. God it was nice just going back to town, selling stuff, training, and the popping right backt o where you were.

Burning Haze, wow this spell is extremely useful in many places. Especially for distance attacks when you have a lot of monsters to fight, or if you want to nail some people in the back row, when you are fighting in a passage way or something.

Incinerate, great powerful spell that does a lot of damage to an individual creature.

Lightning, also works on many mid-range difficulty creatures, and this ends those battles a lot sooner.

Lifesteal, really helped heal my warlock up in the middle of a fight.

Restore health, eliminates the insanity problem, unless the person who has it goes insane.

Binding Force, actually found that quite useful in the snake temple. Especially when fighting Elyssia.

Cure poison, get that as fast as you can as far as I am concerned.

Heroic Might, didn't use it as often as I should of, but sure helps your characters do some damage.

Venom Bite, killed the hydra from a cushy distance with that spell alone.

Lavawalk, nice luxury spell. There is one place in Skull castle where it is pretty much necessary though.

Stone to Flesh, probably not supernecessary if you are careful. I think if you make sure your lock picker has a strong will, and good skill it is worthwhile. I used it a few times and was glad I had it. I guess I just hate paying for the temple to heal me.

Spirit eye, great for finding crabs when you need to get your underwater helms and breathers.

There are really a lot of cool spells out there I am sure, and even though I had them I never really used them much.

Final notes:

Never used a bow, or an arrow the whole game. OR really any long range weapons, except throwing a few poison bombs. The only time I wished I had more throwing weapons was right at the beginning of the boogre quest and you have to kill the guard outside the cage.

Never had a bard, or a Ranger.

Never got the magic lamp to work either. Not sure why.

Well that's all for now...again, I hope someone finds some of this useful.

"The only time I wished I had more throwing weapons was right at the beginning of the boogre quest and you have to kill the guard outside the cage..."

Man! All you have to do is "talk" to the guy. He's nice and will let you out. Did you really kill him?!

"Never got the magic lamp to work either. Not sure why."

To get the Magic Lamp to work, have one character "u"se it on another characters; preferably the next one down. Before the Genie finishes speaking, drop the lamp and after you get your bonus, have the next character pick up the lamp. To get the last character their bonus, have your lead character "u"se the lamp on the last character, then switch quickly to the last character when the Genie starts speaking.

if you have a pixie, it is my opinion that you should start them as warriors and let them spend some time as barbarians, before their real career begins. they do not make bad warriors, they just can't carry much weight. i would let them stay a barbarian until 100 hp's at least, then pick something that doesn't wear heavy armor.

be careful about learning skills, once your window fills up, they fall off. i've had characters lose their gallantry, double-strike, and who knows how many other skills. that is the one thing that would make me consider hex editing. i never lost my axe or mace skills just the good ones.

More great comments, Kung Ming!!!

Since you already miss the game - PLAY AGAIN!!!!!

Many of us have!

Am I the only player who really loves Elemental Blast??
Though I gained spells like resurrect, rebirth and the like - I never once used them - could have been learning something else! I rarely used spirit eye (must be the old gamer in me just does some things the hard way). The better healing spells are a given, as was Illuminate. Guess when I found an offensive spell I liked, I just stuck with it rather than trying all the other possibilities. Stayed away from those spells that could cause my own party damage if they were cast too close. (yes, I prefer to fight Mantraps face to leaf!) Always so interesting to learn what other folks' preferences are!
