Orrick the gray

I found the tome that Orrick wants from the elven ruins, but when I give it to him he says he's giving me a magic item. I get the experience and a dialog line that says something like "no reply or item", and I don't receive any magic item. Any ideas? (I have since loaded the beta patch with no change in success.

Nope not a clue but it happened to me, too. perhaps if you pick his pocket prior to speaking w/ him...? I will try it next time I'm at that point...

I had this problem too and had picked his pocket prior to the quest (as a sort of deposit on his behalf) and got an amulet of metaspell influence (+1 2nd lvl spell) and a ring of free action (very handy item) so when he didn't give me anything but xp after that whole quest I didn't feel too bad. BTW the other person that has anything in Kuldahar is the potion purveyor who has a ring +2 protection, a potion of firebreath and 2 potions of explosive whatever, that I just sold back to him... In the end don't feel too bad when Orrick stiffs you for all your hard work he's still stuck with the monicker of "the grey"!
