Was wondering what the best weapons might be to use for later chapters. I have finished all the quests so far except the unseeing eye( Sasser was missing, maybe a bug) and the poisoned man harpers quest (may have missed him when I ran from a group, didn't see anyone being attacked though). Finished the thief quests already, have the keep and the mage strongholds too, no quests done yet in those last two strongholds.
I have 2 points for long swords, 1 for halbards, 1 for weapon and shield style, 2 for bow, and 1 for ax (I think on the last one). So far I have tended toward wanding a lot of enemies, have decent armor (-13) Right now I look using sword of the roses (3 plus) and the ax that returns. I am wondering though if I should switch to using a bow sometimes (elven bow) and keep -9 armor and still be able to cast spells (something I can't do with the red dragon armor on). Of course, the specilaization with the halbard was a mistake from the dungeon, until I get the wave I suppose, though that will be a lot later. So, what do you think are the best weapons, and where are there (if not in my inventory already)? Also, my alignment is neutral evil. |

Lots of spoils if you want it:
hmmm.. best weapons? depends on your specialty really. Powerful Weapons would include Katana, Axe, Longsword, Bow, Quarter Staff and Rings. Celestial Fury - Katana LongSword - There are alot Axe - Azures Edge (Undead Killer) Quarter Staff - Staff of the Magi Ring - Ring of Gaxx Armour on the top of my head the best for your class would be Elven Chain so you can cast spells while fighting. You can augment yourself with stoneskin, flame barrier and other buffs. I am not entirely sure but the bard stronghold has that the armour unless your willing to wait until the end game which isnt fun anymore. Its been awhile since ive played baldurs gate 2 though. I'm a soloing Thief/fighter/mage, so bard weapons wouldn't be that useful. And as I stated, my weapon specializations were listed already; 2 for long sword (currently using sword of the roses 3 plus)1 for halbard (mistake on my part in the first dungeon), 2 for long bow (though recently haven't bothered as carrying the arrows is a pain, though that will change after I get the bag of holding), 1 for shield and weapon, and 1 for axe (the last possibly).
So what would be the best weapons for that for the underdark and beyond? |

no you get the elven armour doing the bard stronghold quest. Its really good to use the elven chainmail armour for you to fight and cast spells at the same time. A bard is similar to a F/M/T except that he is limited when he increases in level not as compared to multiclass.
unfortunately the best long sword can only be acquired at the end game. Razor or something like that.

Get yourself some points in Flails. The Flail of the Ages is one of the best weapons in the whole game. You could use a blunt weapon, even if you can't backstab with it (maces are another good idea, there's a mace that makes you immune to level drain).
If you're powergaming, you'll eventually want some two weapon fighting skills and some points in Hammer.
