How does my game transition to ToB? (some spoilers)

I'm at the end of the game, just before the final battle with Irenicus. I just bought ToB, but I don't know how this works.

Can I finish the game without it, THEN install it, and continue with my characters, or do i have to instal;l it before I finish teh game, or what?

I am pretty sure inorder to keep your same party you can do ether it does not matter. Unfortunately im not positive and if you install TOB (which would be the safest thing to do)your EXP cap will change and you will game much of the benefits of the TOB character traits and abilitys.

I've already got Weimer's Ease of Use mod, and the XP cap romover, so, will my cahracter's still be affected the same?

and, HOW do I get my party in, do i import them in, or what?

Things can change with the xp cap remover. If you've gone past SoA's cap, you will miss out on some ToB HLAs.

But to answer your question: as long as your final save is still in your directory, just import it after you've installed ToB and go from there. If you don't want to kill Irenicus again, select "new game" in ToB and import the final save game from there and you will start right at the beginning of ToB with your party.

You'll miss out on a few fun things if you do it this way. My suggestion is to install ToB, the ToB patch from interplay.com, and the ToB Baldurdash fixpack (but AFTER you've UNINSTALLED the SoA fixpack!). Then open your Final-Save file in SoA and finish chapter 7. Things will naturally progress to ToB.

what if I start a brand new game after I've installed BG2 and ToB? Does teh ToB XP Cap apply?
