After the Umpteenth(sp?) time trying, i finally managed to stay alive,and get the staff without a wee bit o cheddar anywhere in the mix. Now the problem comes to the staff itself. When I equip it all the right things happen, but there is nothing in the decription box but a picture. I am fully patched for SoA and Tob and have the ToB fixpack, not SoA though. Any Help please

Do you have any other mods? Ease of Use / Item Upgrades comes to mind. The first time I installed the Item Upgrades, the descriptions of all the new items and many other magic items were missing. That being said, I don't remember it affecting the SotM.
I played with it that way for a while, thinking it was just a bug, but then it got so annoying that I uninstalled/reinstalled. Voila, the descriptions were back. I don't know why. Then again, why does rebooting your computer sometimes fix wierd bugs?

Your dialogue.tlk is probably messed up, causing everything else to get messed up. Only solution is to back up your saved games, characters, and baldur.ini files, reinstall the game, and then copy back your old files. That will reset the dialogue.tlk file for you. Then reinstall any mods you had.

Was your game running when you installed the patch and/or fixpack? Doing so will corrupt your files.
