You can't dual class, because sorcerors can't dual class. Otherwise, read dundee's stickies and hit up his solo sorc spell list

Sorcerors cannot dual class. So that's one problem out of the way.
A question: Do you have ToB?
Alignment doesn't really matter, but I take LN, because that way I have a familiar to pickpocket.
I take the following weapon proficiences: Staff and Sling on creation, then Dart, then Dagger.
You'll want a good Sling (Everand requires not ammo but doesn't do as much damage as other ones)... get the bonus merchants patch from the tweaks section of Baldurdash.
You'll also want the Staff of the Magi as well.
You should try Dundee's spell guide, if this is your first time with a sorceror, or you don't know the spell system well.

If you have any other more specific questions, feel free to ask. If I may enquire, Tom, where in New Zealand are you from?

EDIT: Broken link.

lol, yeah. I'm in Nelson. I find that a lot of people from NZ prefer racing games or shoot-em-ups fair more than RPGs. Not a lot of New Zealander's at Ironworks, either.
Oh well, I enjoy being here, and I still manage to keep up with everyone else

At lvl 14 choose Project Image .. at lvl 15 choose skeleton warriors and Mordekainen's sword and the game stops being fun
PIs ignoring the summon limit and spewing forth skeleton warriors that are immune to magic and swords that are immune to physical damage usually makes your day
At lvl 18 choose Improved Alacrity as HLA and Time-stop as spell and you're set for life. If you really want to make the game cry choose Chain Contingency at lvl 19. Load the CC with 3 PIs, set the conditions on " cast on self" when " helpless" and -whoops- you have 4 working PIs. That's right . .you just quadrupled your power without wasting almost any spells at all

Note that all these spels are a direct copy from Dundee's Solo Sorcerer Spell list

Ah, Solo Sorcerers. Food for the masses.

Solo Sorcerers are amongst the easiest BG2 experiences once you get going. Here are some general guidelines:

Early Game
-----------

In early game, count on the Wand of Monster Summoning and/or the Wand of Cloudkill. Selling all the loot from Chateau Irenicus and the Circus will grant you enough money to purchase one of the two - depending on your playing style. The wands, in conjunction with Web should easily solve all the early quest for you until you're level 14.

Web is the spell of ultimate mastery in the early game. Web + Spider Spawn (PICK!), Web + Cloudkill (from the Wand), Web + Melf's Minute Meteors... they're all very powerful combos. Throw some Slows, Greater Malison and Emotion and you're on the ball.

Early-Mid Game
---------

Thou shall bow before the might of the Projected Ones.

Read the BG2 Spells Reference (link in my sig) if you still don't know how to beat the game with just Project Image.

Just one more level, and you're already...

Mid-Late Game
-------------

...level 15. Congratulations - you may now summon your first Skeleton Warrior. I assume their powers are well known to you (again, if not - refer to the Spells Reference). They only serve a sole purpose, though - which is to bring you to level 16.

Late Game
------------

With Skeleton Warriors, Mislead, Project Image and, now, Abi Dalzim's Horrid Wiltings, the rest of the game should be a cakewalk. Ireni-who?!

As for equipment goes... Being a Sorcerer, you don't really need equipment. A naked solo Sorcerer is a unique and fun game, actually. If you're not interested - the mandatory Robe of Vecna, Amulet of Power, Boots of Speed and Staff of the Magi springs to mind.

Have fun, and good luck!

You forgot level 18, Time Stop. At which point 99% of the game breaks down sobbing on its' knees and commits sepukku.

Its funny how lvl 15 offers both Skellies and Mordekainen's swords .. and lvl 18 provides both Improved Alacrity and time-stop ... it's allmost like they did that on purpose .. it's the ideal combo every time

Only problem I keep encountering is that I make 1 of 2 mistakes every time:

1. I have 4 PIs ready to cast .. usually only use 1 or 2 ,.. but I make sure they destroy themselves too in their timestop, so I'll be "free" once they did their job. As a result I dont get XP, since my PI dies before the enemies do.

2. I make my PIs too invincible,.. wich makes it impossible for myself or the opponent to kill the PI ,.. leaving me with PIs worth nothing and I cant kill them in order to get on with life
