I got the two halfs of the Rift Device but it wont go together! Can someone help me here?

That sounds like a bug.
As soon as you pick up the second half of the device in the Unseeing Eye Beholder lair, the two halves should automatically fuse to form the Rift Device.... |

try loading your game, droping the item, save, load, then pick the item up
