The official plugins for Oblivion come at a cost. I am somewhat annoyed. I personally preferred the way it was for Morrowind where they were free except for the major expansions. Regardless, I consider it a shameless attempt at fleecing the gaming community. but that's just one fella's opinion.

Oh yah, many of us feel the same. Flip back a few months on this forum when OBV was released, to find numerous bitching threads on this topic posted by us when they were first announced. It is dissapointing coming from Bethesda.

But, the good news is none of these plugins are spectacular and there are free ones online that rival or match the officials. My advice: Don't bother. I didn't.

Yeah, they released an "expansion" called Knights of Nine which is basically the official pay-per download-plugins just loaded on a disc with some "extra" content added in (like a new quest line or something). Basically this is just them trying to make a quick buck, throwing together what they shouldn't be selling, and adding in one or two exclusive things so the hardcore fans may be sold. I'd avoid it, personally.

Now, The Shivering Isles is (IIRC) a somewhat "real" expansion, though I haven't even bothered picking this one up myself since Oblivion didn't impress me that much in comparison to good 'ole Morrowind. But, if you are planning on buying one then this is the expansion to go for. Don't be reeled in by the fake one.

Rightfully pissed you should be. What is the official excuse? Are these mods only compatible with the release version of Obv? Or did they always plan it so that you could only install them once?
