I'm conquering SoA, I'm already in Suldanesar, my Charachter is a multiclass theif and I still haven't figured out how to backstab yet.
I click on "hide in shadows" , yet when I go to backstab, I leave the shadows and attack normally - what am I doing wrong?

I also have a similar problem with certain mage spells, such as sunray (which I can only cast on the caster), melfs minute meteors and sol's searing orb, when I go to use them the magic icon doesn't appear. Am I doing somthing wrong or is it a bug?

btw, Jaheria plus helm of brillance rules.

Welcome to IW!

That is how you backstab, you hide in shadows, then click on your weapon and hit them from behind. its supposed to say "whoever leaving shadows". its look like a normal attack, but in the little window at the bottom it will say backstabbed for "whatever"

As for the mage spells, melfs minite meteors takes the place of your weapon, so when u cast it little meteors appear for all your weapons, then u click on that then click the enemy. As for sunray, i never use it so i dont know about that one

be sure you are actually facing the back of the person you are trying to backstab...bgii is a real stickler about it

Also, some of the higher-level enemies are immune to Backstab. You can't Backstab a Beholder because they actually don't have backs--their eyes face behind them, too. (Do they have optometrists? Man, I could make a fortune....)

Some enemies are also immune to Stealth. If you're on the same map as a Dragon, it will always know exactly where you are. They can see you, they can smell you, etc.

Yep, Sunray is centered on the caster, and affects a small radius around you. So, cast it just before the enemies get to you (timing is of the essence), and when the Sunray goes into effect, start running to maximize the number of enemies hit by it.
