This is a news article I found...where these parents have been accused of aggrivated manslaughter, by neglecting to realize that their younges of five children was dying in the car outside...

Quote:
LEHIGH ACRES, Florida (AP) -- The parents of a 23-month-old boy who died after being left alone in a van for five hours have been charged with aggravated manslaughter, police said.

Jo Ann, 37, and David McCray, 40, told investigators they thought one of their other four children brought their son Daniel inside the house July 28 after the family returned from church.

Temperatures reached the mid-90s outside. Family members didn't notice Daniel was still in the vehicle until they were preparing to return to church for evening services, authorities said.

Daniel was the youngest of the couple's five children.

The couple turned themselves in to police late Thursday and were being held without bail. The McCrays were schedule to appear in court Friday morning.

It was unclear early Friday if the couple had a lawyer.

Lehigh Acres is east of Fort Myers in southwest Florida.
You know...a little baby like that would make some sort of noise or need it's diaper changed in less than five hours. I am sure that I am not stupid enough to not realize that the baby is nowhere to be seen! And what freaking age are the other four??? What gave the parents the idea that the other four kids were smart enough to take care of their baby brother? Were they old enough to know that the kid was left behind? Were they babies themselves, and not able to think about it??? My neice is 7 years old...and she knows how to take care of her baby brother as though it were her own child! Come on! These parents are plain stupid.

It had to be intentional, hence the aggrivated manslaughter charge... they'll get 20 years good and lose custody of their kids... which is probably what they wanted seeing as they did it...

They *did* turn themselves in, at least that's something...

Well, Larry, you know this happens several times a year in various parts of the country. It's a crying shame that there are more requirements for driving legally than for having children.

I still favor the idea of having to pass certain requirements b4 being able to procreate. Do the world and society a favor - mass enforced non-reproductivity.

It is a tragedy for sure The parents may not be too bright, but I have to think that if it was intentional they would not have turned themselves in. However I don't know the full story or how they "presented" to the police. It would be a second tragedy if they were to be further punished for something they will have on their conscience for the rest of their lives. Im glad I don't have to deal with them or their just punishment.

This is a very tragic situation. I personally would NEVER forget my son in my car when he that young or even now. It was kind of built into me, you know when he cries at night, or the sound of his voice when he is upset, those sorts of things a mother knows. I don't know how they could have forgotten their child in the car. Here in the Dallas area, there were several kids left in the car and there was word of a fine that parents would actually have to pay if the parents were caught. I guess the thougth of losing money actually scares these parents, not the thought of losing their child either to death or the custody of the state. Sad event that the country has come to when money means more to some parents than their own flesh and blood. Their should be a dungeon far under all life that these people should be put in for the rest of their lives to suffer like their poor little kids did. I don't rarely get upset about much, but kids and life when it is taken for granted does upset me very much.

Pure neglect!!!! It is a sad thing for many reasons! The boy died, and now the other kids will grow up in a political system. Witch is worse? Parents who obviously dont pay attention to there kids and leave it up to there other kids to watch each other (imagine the guilt these kids have right now, did the parents blame them?) or a state "liscenced" foster home. I am a father of 3 kids expecting my 4th, and Belle, a father has it to. When my 1st was born, an instinct was born in me that will connect me to my children for ever. This is disgusting behavior of these parents! I hope if nothing else, there guilt will drive them mad forever.

We have specific signs in the summer that say not to leave animals or children along in the car. Anyone who can leave a child alone for 5 hours without worrying at all needs a good smack, and their parental privileges removed or something. What kind of ****s are these people? Or are they maybe just idiots? Grr

Some people are never meant to have children because:

1. They are irresponsible.

2. They are too dumb.

3. They are too lazy to take care of their own flesh and blood.

That's is why I would never left my daughter in the car, even for a while.
