Sorry - I haven't any link (other than in Danish, and i don't think posting that will help )

But onto the story:

A group of non-Iraqis, who have come to Iraq to be human shields against a possible US led attack have left today after a dispute with Iraqi officials about which targets they were going to be stationed at. The Iraqi government wanted to be able to dictate each person's location, but spokespersons for the group refused to accept this demand.

The human shields are mainly positioned at infrastructual sites (water-purification plants etc.) but also wanted to be staioned at schools and hospitals.

Note that the Iraqis did not want the human shields to go to Presidential palaces or similar places

I heard this on the news today as well but couldn't find a link either.

I hadn't heard that the Iraqis, who housed and fed the shields, didn't want them at Presidental Palaces though.

Interesting that some of them had safty concerns, Makes me wonder if any of them had bothered to find out what a shield is. By diffintion a shield is suppose to take the hit.

The interesting thing about the article is the argument between the organizers and Iraq govt.

The organizers wanted to shield hospitals, food centers, water plants, etc but the Iraqi govt had other ideas on where they should be located.

I think Iraq just lost a major PR round in this case. Iraq should have just let the organizers set up where they wanted to.

Totally agree. They were certainly looking a gift-horse in the mouth.
