Anybody going to either the Deep or Urgoz's Warren?

I took Lili (ranger) into The Deep. Our group leader split us into 4 groups from the outset with a monk in each group. My team was the last standing, we lasted quite a while (it seemed) but didn't even get past the first cursed doorman!

I'm wondering, is splitting the team like that the best or smartest?

Splitting the team is unavoidable - each portal takes only 3 people through it before it closes. That is the deal.

I copped the worst door on my first 2 attempts - the one where healing is 20% less effective. Now I know why people avoid that one. If you think that first room is bad - try tackling the masses in the next room as the only team of 3 to emerge and with everyone depending on you. .

Had much more success on the Warren - at least got about 2/3 through and got me a couple of high level chests. The guy who opened one before me got req 10 15^50 20/20 +30 Oni blades - all I got was a clean 15% -10 attacking req 11 Zodiac Hammer. Still - much better to play for 90 mins than to play for less than 90 secs in the Deep .

Well that time I tried Warren with a barrage pet team - we were doing fine till we got to the same room with the thorn wolf assassins that kill in 2 swipes (first swipe does 300+ damage to caster types). That started to load us down with DP but we survived and got through the area. I was thinking - got past this room - now what is up ahead. Just then one silly monk decided he had to veer off the path we had been guided to go get a chest - spawned too many beasties and that was that.

Bad bad bad monk

Looking at the write up this is considered one of the most difficult areas - I am not surprised

Took Lili to the Warren last night. First time ever for trapping (she finished Prophecies and half way thru Factions and always run as Expert Sniper) and all I can say is WOW. Made Hell's Precipice look like Pre-searing!

We got to the doors of Urgoz's hideout with a 9 man team before we finally all fell (some 4 hours or so later). It was an excellent team (guildies and I'd guess allies by the ease of banter and good teamwork) who took a stray in (me ). I don't think I've used Rebirth so much in the rest of both games combined, though! I was using Rebirth in all my dreams last night, too .

Yeah, figured out the 3-man thing for The Deep. Rather idiotic in my opinion, but oh well.

Well I am glad my guild went Kurczik - the Warren is so much more playable than is the Deep. The Deep is pretty much only for warriors, monks and ele's. Mind you, the Warren favours rangers, but you can get all classes playing in balanced teams as well.

I still tend to find the odd suicidal fire ele in the pick up groups though - they make such poor tanks. 2 PUG's last night ruined by crappy playing - the 2nd time (after repeated warnings to change behaviour) we elected to leave the ele dead in the first chamber and move on. Some leapords just have no idea about spot changing .

Yeah, only group I had that made it very far at all (room 9, Warren) had had 4 people either server-drop or leave --- the token tank being the first to call us all noobs and *poof* in the beginning. Half the reason we got so far was to prove him wrong, I think .

Alas and alack, when hubby, son and I went out in a PuG, we didn't get very far (Fire Flower bridge and it glitched badly). The other tank, the very one who kept ordering us rangers to "trap on him" never would pull back enough for the foe to even get to the traps!

Just had another go (Elite Weekend finished, but access through House du Heltzer).

I seem to have picked up something called Urgoz's Shortbow - I am sure I just found it lying about somewhere on a mound of rotting foliage
