ok xp cap is 2,950,000.....

how does is work for multi-class? is it that for example a thief/mage can be 2950000thief and 2950000mage or is it didvided between the two like it did in BG1?

how does it work for dual class?

For multiclass it's divided equally between the two (or three) classes, like in BG1, so for a Thief/Mage, the effective cap is 1,475,000 XP per class.

For dual-class, it's also just like in BG1, the XP used by the first class is subtracted from the cap for the second class. For instance, a Thief dualed to Mage at 7th level, has used 60,000 XP for his Thief-levels, so as a Mage, he can progress to 2,950,000 - 60,000 = 2,890,000 XP.

Yes. Some classes will be able to reach level 40 in ToB, but others can't get further than 34 or even 31. And multiclasses can't get beyond 4,000,000 XP per class.

Well it should work automaticaly, when it would stop you progressing before now the game will let you keep going up in levels. The effects arnt noticable till then.
