I am doing a mage guild quest. I stumbled onto the old Dunmer stronghold called Marandus. Well as soon as I went in I got attacked.

I killed a few of them. I am just wondering if I should go back a save? Is it critical to keep them alive? will it affect any guild or house down the road?

Marandus and anything inside there is not important to any quest whatsoever. you are free to conquer it.

That is the main problem with Morrowind, IMO. One can never know if this person or dungeon or item is important for a quest, and one is always afraid of killing him, looting it or selling it.
I found many items with names (Othrill ring, Hlervu's locket, ...), and sold it, but I had to write down where it is. The list went on and on, but I never met a person who needs any of those items (except Hlervu).

Very true. I guess we should be thankful for small graces. However it is a pain in the ass trying track down all that stuff that, in retrospect, you shouldn't have hocked.

Not if you are on xbox, IIRC.

i have been to about 95% of the towns, and i know i havnt sold them, so they are going to be in a crate somewhere, the big question is where, as i have a load of normal crates i use, but sometimes i just put things in places where i dont normally go (stupid i know). Writing this has jogged my memeory, as i left a load of stuff in an emtpy house in calderia i wonder if its there, as i havent checked them yet.
