Well, I've been dying to know ever since we got Wiz 8, can we import our guys from Wiz7(CoTDS) if we didn't beat the game, and if where would you start off???? The Monastery as always.

Yes, you can. Just copy any savegame files from Crusaders of the Dark Savant or Wizardry Gold into your [game dir]\saves\import\ directory. As in, if you had the game installed on C drive under the directory "Wizardry8", you want to put the files into "c:\wizardry8\saves\import\". Then you just have to use the Import button in the character creation screen, and your old saves should show up ready to go.

I had multiple savegames from both these games (Wiz7 and Wiz Gold), most of which I didn't bother finishing the games with. I surprisingly found they would all import over just fine though. Note that if you haven't beaten the previous game with the party you import, you just get the standard intro and beginning that you'd normally get if you made a fresh team. That's really the only difference between beating the game or not with your old party. Having beaten Wiz7 gives you a new beginning in Wiz8, otherwise you just get the standard fare.

Unless you got as far as the Helazoid rescue, then Vi's there on the beach with you, and disappears when you leave her line-of-sight; she goes where you meet her in a non-imported game.
There are many lovely things to bring with you from W-7/Gold, especially the Bard instruments...
When you import, start the game before you take the levels if you want the first Spawning to be more favorable. Level 5 starts often have a bunch of Venom Crabs in the water...

(edited to correct Vi's name)
