What do you value more? Armor with a high AC or armor that gives you strong resistances? Or do you like your armor with heavy bonuses to attributes?

For example:
I've chosen the Cloak of Perception(+2 AC) for my ranger rather than a Forest Cape. (+3 AC) because of the +20 Perception / 10% Divine.

In another example I've chosen Chamail+2 (8 AC) over Featherweight Armor(10 AC) due to the Chamail's +20 Air/+20 Water resists.

It depends. My rangers, for example, are not in the front line, so they prefer other bonus over AC. But with a frontline of rogue/monk in my current game, the monk will prefer the AC, since his AC is much lower.

Ummmm... high AC when I'm fighting non-casting melee mobs, high resistances when I'm fighting non-melee spell casters. If it's possible, I like to be prepared for both. Certain pieces of armor I use for certain situations. A certain helm goes on my fighter's green scaley head when I see anything that can cast insanity, it comes off when I'm done. After Ferro, most armor tends to be both high in AC and resistance, so I simply go with the most expensive, as it tends to be the best.

Gimme the high armor class. The mages can take care of the rest with magic screen and soul shield.

It all depends on what the character role is. Your upfront fighters or tanks are gonna need armor with high AC values. Take the best you can find and usually the best armor has either resistances or an attribute bonus. Monks, Ninjas, and Rogues, go for armor with resistances or ability modifiers because they should have high dex and stealth which equals good AC. Spellcasters, well, I prefer a good AC bonus just in case things go wrong...

I almost always build Stealth for everyone by taking a Rogue or Ninja level, and i usually build Dex to max first for Reflextion, which trains up the same way as Stealth, so for me AC is no big deal. Everyone but tanks usually end up with Robes of Rejuv, and the tanks get Infy Helm and Golden Breastplate. Before i get that far (usu @ L15) i use Chamail +2 if i can get it, or Flak Jackets and (lower) Chain +1 or Mesh.
Samurais should NOT use the Sam-only armor--it's much too heavy, restricting your Lightning Strikes.

if it's got an attribute bonus, I'll take it. I don't care much for the resistance bonus unless necessary for some reason (like a lizard needing mental ... but I don't use lizards).

However, right now my samurai is running around with robes of rejunvention and no pants on. (She's wearing an infinity helm, snake boots, mail mittens, locket of reflection, str anhk and cloak of many colors. I keep trying to get a ring of beasts for her, but no dice.)

kill more Ratts. Chamail +2 pants you can PP from Donnie; they drop only rarely when you kill him, one of my faves for a Sam's legs.

unfortunately I think all the Rattkin are gone. I killed Don, Milano, the 2 Giants, everyone, I wiped out the place and Rattus, too. I keep going to Arnika and the SE Wilderness where you usually get encounters with Goons and Elimators, but haven't seen any in a while, not a single Rattkin. Even after camping 24 hrs. I guess I'll have get a Rift regular drop for the ring.

The Sam has leg armor available, she's just not wearing it. I think I was trying to see if she would get more lightning strikes.

as long as she's under 1/3 or thereabouts, much more doesn't help noticably.
