While moving underwater to the Sea Caves, I ran into a monster that I've never seen before....a 'Brother Ray'. Has anyone else seen this before? It was level twenty and kicked the butts of my level 19 party of four. ( which had up all the Soul/Magic/Element shield the law allows) I'm going to assume that it must be pretty rare.

I've run into them a few times there. Never had much trouble at level 19 with both Magic Screen and the Shields Powercast at Power Level 7. With single monsters I generally use my one Melee Expert, the Bard, to do part of the work. Usually that one's with 4 or 6 weaker things, isn't it? They may need dusting off first, before approaching. With a critter that tough, some damage is bound to come through. I think I saw similar Rays that were Level 22 and Level 26, also.

the "ray" family look like giant sting rays. i've run into upper-20's level death rays, but my wife recently enjoyed an encounter with level 30+ cosmic rays.

they can be really tough paired up with sharks or squid, particularly for a melee heavy party which thrives on closing, but has to (literally) wade through a sea of whimps to get at these bad boys.
