I thought a single class swashbuckler solo would be a challenge on Insane. And at first it was...but you level up so fast from detrapping and unlocking stuff, its a joke. And cash is no problem; huge $$ from pickpocketing everyone in Athkatla. Which buys items to deal with baddies. He ran around and got XPs from every non-combat quest I could think of. Thieves level up quickly anyway, and going solo means increasing levels with blinding speed.

Right now my little elf is 39th level and he's just out of the Underdark. He might as well be a multiclass fighter/mage/thief: ever since he got 'Use Any Item' this game has quit being a challenge...I hadn't figured that 'Use Any Item' meant he could use spellscrolls (which means I should pay closer attention to the manual, hahah). Not to mention he can use Carsomyr and the Staff of Magi (getting that was a toughie) And if all that's not enough...there's always the Slayer ability. Not to mentions traps.

This guy is waaay overpowered, IMO. Much, much easier to play than the dualled kensai-mage, but not as easy as the monk.

At 39th level his thieving stats are around 150 in everything. Which means I'll be trying to pickpocket Irenicus. Heh. Has anyone tried that??

Try killing Improved Abazigal with your Swashbuckler, and then compare the results if you had tried it with a Kensai->Mage.

I'll let you know how it works out.

I haven't encountered him yet in my other ToB game (fighterdruid, minsc, valygar, viconia, imoen and nalia), and I'm trying to avoid reading about encounters beforehand.

Remember that it is Improved Abazigal we are talking about here, you can download the patch that makes him tougher over here.
