Is there a spell better than this one? It's a sleep type spell but goes one better, when placed in front of you the enemies will turn their back on you to stare at it, double damage on top of bloodlust and rogue backstab, AND its not based on your speed, once cast you don't have to do anything, its up to the enemies to move and 60-70% of the time they will stare at it. On top of that gadgeeters can use it at the beginning of everycombat for practically no stamina, makes my bard look like a joke. Praise to the lava lamp! I don't think theres an item/spell better than this one, though insanity might come close. Course my party is only level 10...

I wish people would stop comparing a gadeteer & a bard. They are both great characters to have. The 1 "big" difference between them both that alot of people dont realize is that a gadgeteer is setup to be an aggresive character with thier gadgets while a bard is setup to be a more defensive character. Gadgeteer gadgets most have attack spells & some of the buffs bards dont have. While Bards have defensive spells such as Haste, Freeze Flesh, Freeze All. Having "both" will complement the group well and gadgeteers get strong end game while bards start to level out on strong points by the time the gadgeteer gets to where the bard got to "several levels earlier".

Ledribaen: Why waste a turn going the first round of combat. If you see the monsters coming, Fire off the Lure from the Lava Lamp before combat starts... it works just as well, and it gives your Gadgeteer another turn (effectively).

Also, the Lure works much better on animal types, so it's not as effective on disabling as, say, the siren's wail.

Oh and I think you'll change your favorite gadget to the NegatAir when you build that much later on...Asphyxiation is neato

Hehe, thx Gen. And I wasn't comparing the bard to the gadgeeter, I have both in my party, I love my bard!(hes my pickpocketer =)). I accidently made my bard male and he can't use the endurance necklaces =(. Haste in the beginning with that drum followed by piercing pipes till unconscious is great!

My personal endgame favs are the Water Cannon (Tsunami), NegatAir or Microwave Ray (Boiling Blood) for my gadgeteer and for the bard I prefer the Chaos Drone (Pandemonium), Strings of Seduction (Turncoat) and Arresting Aria (Freeze All) unless I'm going against demons in which case I would have to add the Cornu of Demonspawn (Banish) I imported from 7. I have only tried Hypnotic Lure a few times, but it doesn't work against really dumb critters like crabs. I don't think I'll use it again, the sound it makes is truely annoying. If I need a distraction, I go for Canned Elemental (can't cast it yet}. And yes, you can initaite combat and throw it before enemies attack. It helps to get the jump on them if you have the Warning Wolf (Shadow Hound?), or whatever, on.
