Three questions:
1) Myles told me he needs my help to recover some diamond stolen from the Arnika bank. It´s supposed to be in some theive´s hideout on the road between the monastery and Mount Gigas. Question: Following the road from the monastery to Arnika (I think the part is called "Arnika Road") I passes sort of a house with a steel door. If you want to open it you get a message: Cant be picked, cant be opened. Is this the thieves hideout mentioned above? How do you enter it ? 2) Is there a RPC gadgeteer in the game? 3) I have DirectX 8 installed. dxdiag confirms this. But in the setup window for wiz8 I can only select DirectX7, DirectX6, OpenGL and Software as available Graphics Interface. Shouldn´t DirectX8 appear there also ?? |

1) The Diamond is actually in the Northern Wilderness, a zone North of the Monastery Road zone. Its on the Bandit Leader, if I remember correctly, in a Bandit camp right near the bridge to the Umpani Base. You can't miss it.
2) Yep. Madras, Trynnie Gadgeteer in Trynton. You need to finish the Ratkin quest before you can get him. I wouldn't rely on him to stay with you forever though, unless you just want him to make stuff for you. 3) Re-boot the computer and then run the setup again.

LoL as for question 2 there is a gadgeteer that can be recruited he is in upper tryton and his name is madras...hes not bad I ditched myles for him and so far I don't regret dropping myles like a bad habbit.. As for the Direct X question..I will pass on that..Direct X 8 wreaked so much havoc on my achine that I went back to direct X 7.. Hey 2 out of 3 ain't bad

Hey, thanks for the quick answers ! But two questions still remain: If the house I mentioned above ( between monystery and Arnika ) isn´t the thieve´s hideout, then who lives there? And can you enter it? Rebooting the computer doesn´t let me choose DirectX8. I installed the game 2 days ago and rebooted my machine several times in the meantime. Just before writing the post I opened setup, but no DirectX8 option there...

Oh, and one more thing: If Madras leaves my party, will I still be able to use any gadgets he made? i.e. Do gadgets require a gadgeteer to use them? If I changed my bard to become a gadgeteer, would she still be able to use instruments?

Geathaa, don't worry about the little house. You can't open it now, but you'll be able to get in later in the game.

quote: Some gadgets can only be used by someone with engineering skill (i.e. a gadgeteer). Madras can make things for the general population such as double and triple firing crossbows out of single light cross bows. I took him for a little while and decided to drop him. Changing classes does not seem to be a really good thing to do in this game. Once you change, the character stops growing in their old skills (e.g. music). If you changed your bard into a gadgeteer, she could make things and use them at a low level. You could train her to be better, but she would not grown as a bard. If you swap her to gadgeteer for a level or two, and then go back to bard -- then she would be able to make and use gadgets at a low level only. I really like my bard. By mid game, you will have found many instruments she can use to really help the party. And she is good at opening doors and chests. Only draw back is that all of those instruments get heavy ![]()
