Greetings everyone, I've been reading your posts here for a few weeks and finally found something interesting enough to post about
I was in a fight with some black unicorns, the kind that have a "Rear" attack that causes turncoat and other nasty status ailments. My fighters kept killing my mages and each other, and that wasn't really conductive to winning, so I kept reloading. About the fourth time, I remembered "I got a new spell recently!" and, having cast the Summon Elemental spell, was gratified to seeing a big lump of sod (with cute baby trees!) appear to fight on my side. During the same round, my kindly Rawulf priest Palu got turncoated. I wasn't too upset about that because he wasn't strong enough to do any damage and didn't know any destructive spells. But apparently Lumpy the Sod Elemental thought Palu was too dangerous for my own good, because the very first action he took after being summoned was to turn around and hit Palu from behind for about 180 damage, killing him instantly. Ouch! So beware, for Summoned Elementals are bound and determined to protect you from anything that might hurt you, including yourself -Parrp

Nice story.
But Palu should be able to cast "Magic Screen" outside combat and "Soul Shield" in the first round of combat by now. Unicorns will pose no threat if you do that.

Parrp the Karp,
That is a hilarious story! Thanks for sharing it and welcome to IW! My first encounter with those beasts...they reared and scared my canned elemental away! I was stunned to see it fleeing for its life...my party stood there open-mouthed wondering what they would do since we did not have a Soul Shield spell yet...Magic Screen is not all it is cracked up to be without it LOL! |

::the Blonde Brigade giggles amongst themselves:: that sounds exactly like something that would happen to us.
![]() and moni is right, those two spells work a ton better if used in conjunction with one another! also, it's fun to turn them insane, too! i love watching them "rear" each other! silly little horsey heads. V***V

Dear Warhammer, Moni, and vesselle;
Thank you for the kind reply. I had not realized that Soul Shield was so useful; I guess I figured I already had Magic Screen so I didn't need another spell - doh I will pick it up as soon as I can and see how that helps me out. And Moni, I wish the Summoned Elementals had faces of some sort - it would be great to see their expressions when they suffer from various ailments. I really love them, anyway, despite their faults; the ability to call up a cool looking spirit to fight on my side is just tooo cool! My Bishop is getting quite tired of summoning one for every little fight ![]()

Oh gosh yes! What I would give to see an Elemental Lord's insane or frightened face LOL!
No one in my new game has the power to cast any yet...we are feeling quite lonely out there in the Dominus Wilds. |

I love my elementals as well. Got 2 bishops so I can summon 2 at once for each battle. : ) Really love them !
It's really awesome to see them "rise up" from the ground and they are so big!!! A word though. Some area you are in are too small to accomodate the bigger elementals. I think an elemental lord can only be summoned outdoors. But a weak or smaller elemental can be summoned indoors ! Try fighting cultists, geomancers and such. It's really fun seeing a whole bunch of elementals duke it out while you are trading spells at each other! Gets even more fun when you add "eye for an eye" into the mix! The most fun I have had were with the long range spell battles in Wizardry 8.
