What WOULD be weird is if they decided to do a book-of-the-film. Just think - it might be written by Terry Brooks and everything.

Mother of god... what if they DO?!?

Not, sure how detailed you want, Velkyn. I read these books a long time ago. I thoroughly enjoyed them, however, and they did inspire me to do on and read more Tolkien (sp).

Loved the Hobbit and The Lord of the rings. I am actually looking forward to the movie. I am of course not expecting the movie to near so good as the books but I am expecting it to be a good movie with lots of cool effects. I think it would be neat if they made a movie on the Hobbit first though.

I am expecting the movie to be way better than the Lord of the Rings movie that you can rent right now (that IS a terrible one. Complete waste of time, money and the LOTR books)

Aaaah, the old Ralph Bakshi animated film. Not really THAT bad... just very, very silly. Full of odd continuity errors and really rather important bits of the plot missing -

- Aragorn is named as the Heir of Elendil, but the film never mentions Elendil at all... in fact, we never see the bit where Anduril is reforged either.
- The Balrog looks like a Lion with carpet slippers and butterfly wings.
- Every horn-call (the Call of Buckland, Boromir's war-sound, the Orcish War-Horn) is the same two notes.
- Everyone has big 70's hair, most notably Saruman - who surely would snap his neck if he moved his head too fast with THAT amount of hair.
- There's the really odd bit of music during the battle for the Hornburg that seems to suggest, no matter how strange it seems, that the Orcs and the Humans are about to make friends.

If you can't ascertain my opinion of Bakshi's swanso - er - masterpiece, then it really is true, as I have always said - Sarcasm in Print just doesn't work.
- Tom Bombadil is cut. Just as well, really.
- Guess what idiots blew their budget on the first half of the film and couldn't make the other half?
