I have all 3 books now, and started reading the 1st one. Has anyone else read these? Are they good? Do they tie in to the Avatar Trilogy well?

I wanted to know more about the "Time of Troubles". I just want to know if it's a good read.. I also have a bunch of others, but I have cut a LARGE chunk out of my pile of books I bought!

Anyone read Tymora's Luck? Spellfire? What about the Arcane Age books? I have 1 and 3, missing 2..

Hi Ziroc

Haven't read Shadow of the Avatar Trilogy, although I have read Spellfire - not too bad for an Ed Greenwood book, but not one of the best out there.

Have you read the Azure Bonds trilogy? Now that was a good set of books! Includes Azure Bonds, Wyvern's Spur, and Song of the Saurials.

Click here for my rant on Ed Greenwood and on Spellfire. Z, I wouldn't mind hearing your feedback on Shadow of the Avatar, I've been thinking of getting it but I just can't bring myself to buy something that was "written" (and I use the verb very loosely) by Ed Greenwood. If you think it's good though I might get really drunk one day, buy it, and blame it on the influence.

Ziroc, despite everyone else's opinion, I loved the Shadow of the Avatar Trilogy. There are two young Harpers that really are great comic reliefs! They make some crazy jokes throughout the entire series.
You even get to see Elminster kiss a Lich!
There is another girl in there that is increadible in her fighting skills. She is a Knight of Myth Drannor. Great girl! And of course the information on the Shadow dwelling beings is invaluable.
I really hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

The recurring theme that I *really* hate about Ed's "books" (again I'm using this noun very loosely) is that for the female characters, clothing is optional! How can you take them seriously after that? Shandril Shessair is a perfect example. And he's not even good at writing sex scenes. I'd suggest he leave those to the Harlequin Romance people who at least know their target market.

I'm hardly surprised. I don't think old El has the willpower to refrain from kissing anything.

It does have an interesting story concept, I must admit. The Malaugrym sound cool, if overpowered and munchkinny (yet again).

You do make very good points, Memny.
You are right about his writing style, but take that crap out and it is a decent story.
I read them with great ernest.

Even though I have all three books I have yet to read them. I've been reading the Avatar Trilogy. Those are pretty good books to read. I'll read the SAT when I am done with those
