The Adventures of Althalus

Im planning on doing a Faceman type job, writing a story about my adventures with Althalus. Heres some background info on him first and on the game.

Im playing bgt, and Althalus is a barbarian, which Im soloing, on insane, naturally.

His stats are as follows:

Althalus dual wields warhammers, as I really like them, I intend to get the Warhammer +2 +1vs. electrical and the other one (you know the good one, cant remember the name) Then I will add some more proficencies by bg2.

Althalus didn't know to much about his heritage. The first memories he had were of his foster father-Gorion. He had never even heard his mothers voice, he had been told she died at his birth, but he could never quite believe that. He had never met his father either, although he knew deep down that he was still alive; somewhere. He could almost feel something inside him, a burning desire to meet this man; whoever he may be.

Althalus loved Candlekeep, it was a place where he was readily accepted, all memories of other places were bad ones, everyone thought of the giant half-orc as a big brute, who had no heart. But Gorion in particular, treated him as anyone else would be treated, and he loved the feeling.

He spent most of his early years in the practice rooms, with his favourite 2 warhammers. Gorion would always want him to study books, as he did. He never quite understood that Althalus was a fighter at heart, and didn't really care for any of this magic nonsense. He wasn't particularly fond of killing, but he wasn't phased by it. He would kill any evil that came in his path, although he would always be up for a chance to save the day, any way to get himself accepted by people. He acted in his own best interests generally though, and always liked to travel alone on his rare outings, against Gorions will. He liked to make all the decisions himself.

Ehh.. Actually Ross, Bhaal is in factuality dead. Just cuz the essence of Bhaal is about in Bhaalspawn doesn't make the god of murder any less dead. At least I think it doesn't.

What kinda strikes me as odd is a half-orc with a charisma of 16. Well, I suppose if raised in the right environment his charm could overpower his looks.

And so it was with great surprise, yet mixed feelings when Gorion announced that they would be leaving. He knew it was urgent and that somethng was wrong, Gorion never usually seemed quite so flustered. But Althalus wasn't the one to ask questions. So he packed his things together, picked up his two warhammers, and after doing some final errands for his good friends of the keep, he was all set and ready to go.

Gorion gave him a big lecture like speech, before they left, telling him that if anything should happen he should head to the Friendly Arm Inn and meet up with some good friends of his.

Yeh right. Althalus discarded that information, he needed no one to fight his cause. And so they set out, travelling swiftly through the night.

Well well, just remember that my character doesnt know anything about Bhaal yet. He has studied remember, he has spent the first x number of years in candlekeep. He also needs a lot of charisma if he is to overcome his problem of people hating him for what he looks like.

And so they travelled on through the woods, making good distance. Everything was going fine, Althalus and Gorion were chatting about life, and then suddenly they were attacked out of no where. Gorion started to retaliate, taking out a few of the brutes, while Althalus was made to flee against his own will. He wished he hadn't now, after what happened to Gorion. Gorion had fought bravely, to the bitter end, but it hadn't been enough, the armoured man who killed him scared Althalus, and that was a feat in itself. The thing was, he could feel a bond off that guy, he some sort of link, but he wouldn't; couldn't believe he could be in anyway associated with this sort of evil.

Althalus slept, it as a horrible sleep, full of nightmares, he woke numerous times, warhammers gripped in his hands, sweat dripping from his face, but nothing was there.

He awoke to a bright day, which made him feel very much out of place. He had lost a big part of himself last night, and he knew it could never be replaced. So it was with great effort that he managed to pull himself up and sort himself out. He was a fighter, he reminded himself, and fighters were strong.Right? The first thing he did was go and find Gorions body, and pay his final respects, before burying it. He was humbled by the site of his old mentor. He then looted the other bodies, looking for any clues of who these people had been. He found a notice, but it didnt help too much.

So off he went. He met a message boy, who cheered him up somewhat. Feeling like he needed to take his anger out on something he started killing wolves, these beasts were annoying anyway, always biting at him. He kept travelling on, meeting some diseased giberlings here and there, and a strange old man, who gave him some advice, this guy looked as if he knew his stuff! Feeling quite cocky, he decided he would go and take out the big ogre brute which everyone he had met was talking about. BIG MISTAkE. He started to crunch it, warhammers getting to work, but then the big brute nearly chopped him in half! Stunned he turned and started to stagger away, very close to death, then what did he meet but another one of those damn wolves. Luckily he managed to take it out without being hit, which would have surely finsihed him off, and then gulping down a mixture of old Terquin the priests, he went back to the ogre to finish him off and claim his prize. Then he set off for The Friendly Arm Inn for a well deserved rest.
