If anyone is interested, a few of us were thinking it might be fun to try and get together to play as a team/party but roleplay our characters. Basically, relating to each other in character with any comments out of character noted as ooc and kept to a minimum. Some of us have rp'd in Pen and Paper or online for years or dabbled a bit now and then and would like a chance to do it in the Undermountain setting and since EfU is in the Roleplay listings, it's a perfect match!

We haven't really set the parameters- just tossed around the idea of a 'rp only' group. This could be a group of us with characters about the same level who rp with each other when we get the chance, or a set of new characters we create solely to rp with one another on the Undermountain whenever we manage to hook up.

We might have a few 'arranged play times' and/or if we create them, use our new 'rp only' characters when we meet up with one another by chance and want an rp experience. Some of us do that now, with pc's we use regularly, so I was thinking there might be some interest in this idea.

One nice thing about rp'ing is that we can have classes that wouldn't survive on their own in the UM. You can play a pure thief, bard, wizard or sorceror or what have you and there would be others to help keep you alive. It's also alot of fun! It's really neat to have a 'history' with another character and to be able to build on this.

This idea has come up a few times with several people and I'd like to see if we can figure out a time that it can be done. I know Roddybug's in UK so we may need to do this on a weekend, or some of us will be up mighty early/late ! LOL Maybe we can try after the holidays?

Any feedback, thoughts, ideas etc, are most welcome!

Count me in

How about no swapping of items between your characters, start out with a fresh PC at Durnan's and away you go.

I think that's a wonderful idea, and I may have a couple of other friends that I've rp'd with on a regular basis that might as well. My work schedule what it is, I'm almost as bad as some of our European friends for play times, and I do have obligations to another server, but I'll keep my eye on this thread, and I'd be very interested in participating. I like the new chars idea, with no swapping. Makes it seem like we randomly met, or intentionally met just to explore Undermountain. Great idea Cloudy.

I agree. No item swapping. However some characters are eaiser to equip than others so how about we allow loans of money OR a trip to Mirt the Money lender

If by 'item swapping' you mean not giving your new pc stuff an older one has found on lower levels, then AMEN, I like that idea. It should be challenging to try it from scratch with what we poor adventurers can afford. LOL But swapping amongst ourselves in the party when we find loot is ok by me.

That way characters who need/like a specific type of weapon/armor can share items we find, since we're a team of adventurers.

I think we need to work a small 'what we're doing here' paragraph up and a few guidelines. This should be fun!

Actually, I started a monk last night, with the little of nothing, and poked around in the passage way to Mirt's, and then wandered aimlessly around lvl one, and before some one emptied their bag of holding into mine, I had over a mil in gold, which should go a long ways towards equipping most chars with good gear, but if you want to borrow the money from Mirt, I'm sure he won't mind.

Obviously I'm up for this! My friends are IW, just not Team IW (neither am I); perhaps we should start a UK chapter!

One of the issues with the team play that should be addressed is alignment, well characters really. I can't really see a group of paladins, pale masters, assassins, harpers, champions of Torm, druids, blackguards, etc all running around together. I suppose that that goes along with the "why are we all here?" suggestion.

I don't mind people having secrets, but some some of the above are lifestyle choices. Also, one of my characters was unmasked by what what was stated in the right hand panel "X creates Harper item" - I didn't realise that it was so specific so I was quite close to the rest of the group. I'll be more careful in future!
