EXP, Item Bug - Driving me crazy

I've been hit by a strange experience point, item stealing bug, and it's driving my crazy. So crazy that I almost joined the K.A.K.
Background: I'm running a Paladin in Baldurs Gate/Tales of the Sword Coast/Dark Side of the Sword Coast. And I believe I have all the patches installed, but not sure.
In Durlags Tower, I killed the Demon Knight by beating on him and got 7,500 exp, which is 1/2 of the 15,000 I was supposed to get.
In Ulgoths Beard, I killed the Demon, Aec'Letec, and get 8,000 exp, which is 1/2 of the 16,000 I was supposed to get.
I stroll over to the tavern, speak with Hurgan, and my character tells him that no reward is necessary, as killing the beast was enough.
I can deal with no reward, as that is the noble thing to do, but why did my experience points get shaved in half? I even reloaded and redid the battles several times with the same results.

I think it could be a DSotSC bug because the same thing happened to me. I have been thinking that it is not a bug but intentional on the part of developers of DSotSC, as DSotSC does give you a pile more experiance anyway. However I do wish I could have gotten the extra experiance.

Just use Shadowkeeper (http://www.mud-master.com/gatekeeper/) and give yourself the extra 15,500 experience points you are due. It's not cheating because you are entitled to them; it's the game's fault, not yours.

well i only have sword coast and bg1 installed and i get the full whack of exp, though havent beaten aec thingy yet, ah 16,000 to come [img]smile.gif[/img] excellent im lookin forward to that then

Arledrian: Thanks for the info and the link. I downloaded it, and will add my missing exp. You're right, my Paladin earned it. That fight with the demon was interesting, to say the least. I don't think Kivan can make a saving throw against breath of Kobold!

Seraph: The last time I checked, it was on the normal difficulty setting, but maybe I lowered it to memorize a spell or something and forgot to reset it. I'll have to check. Thanks.

Baggins: You may be on to something. That crafty Lord Brass has always been one of those grassy knoll types. And those download links he always provides are actually programs that place subliminal messages onto our computers. "Join the K.A.K." and "Shady Rules" and "Eat at Joe's".

That would be gatekeeper.

Im not sure if its the games fault or not. If the DsotSC designers decided to re-balance it, they doubtless had a reason.

not like there is much need because by the time you can beat the guy you'll be getting exp easy just by revisiting some areas like spider one with spawns of 1400 phase spiders who take two hits to kill so you work up that exp in no time anyway

This could have been it. I had lowered the difficulty setting for Dynaheir to memorize spells, and forgot to reset it. Dang. Now I feel compelled to reload my old saves and fight those monsters again.
