YYYYYES!!!!! I FINALLY figured out how to get the wolves to attack me! It's TIME! It must be some randomly determined amount of days, but let a certain number of them pass in the game (check the thing with gears in the bottom lefthand corner) and it increases the number of enemies that you fight!
I dont' think it has to do with your level because I was resting and fighting one sirine at the lighthouse one day, I rest a few days and fight *2* sirines and i hadn't leveled up. It happened at 53 days...dunno if it was random or not... Anyway, this is interesting... [ 10-21-2002, 02:57 PM: Message edited by: n00body ]

Actually, I think it *is* level-based: The number and type of monsters that appear at each map's "Random Creatures Spawn Here" points are determined by the size of your party and their total experience, or something like that. Last night, I took my party of 6, who were all at the BG1 EXP cap, along the south edge of the map, and we were fighting groups of *3* Winter Wolves at once, and I've never seen them in 3's before.

Yes, I believe it is level based, but we could be wrong. But in the actuall D&D game, I think the chance of fighting more monsters from an interuption is a real rule.

My money is on level based as well because those of us who start as mages would have a harder time with a weaker charachter with all of the cast...rest...cast...rest going on.

Number of characters also plays a significant factor in random encounter determination. If you run around with one or two characters, you meet a lot less enemies then if you have a six-person party. Which stands to reason. However, this does not seem to apply to fixed battles, were the enemy is normally predetermined for you anyway.

i think the load rule comes into play when you leave a map, the more you load (not save) the more monsters you face, if you loaded 50 times you might get like 6 winter wolves on a random encounter, not sure though
