Such magic items are conditional, and unless you want to fiddle with the 2ndEd. core rules, there is no way to combine certain protection devices. Sorry about that.

I always felt a bit cheated when only one protective item can be worn at a time...I mean I know the principle behind the rule because if it were not in place you could build a solo tank with 18 dex(19 after the tome) get the ring of protection +2 along with a ring of protection +1, Ankheg armor, the large shield +2 that you can find in the basement of a haunted tower that shall remain nameless a cloak of protection +2 and an amulet of protection +1 all on the same character which would make him virtually unhittable with an AC of...correct me if my math is wrong but wouldn't that be AC-16? With an AC like that you could be a straight fighter specializing to high mastery in short sword and you could complete the game with just a dagger as your weapon...Making you the first man to knife (Or STING as we Baggins like to call it) his way through the Sword Coast.

Sometimes if you wear a cheeper form of armour it can be worth it to get those items on. Especilly if it is the +2 or +3 items with saving throws.
I have had guys at -12 or less before, but they had dex of 18, best non-magical armour so I could wear several really good trinkets, sheilds, helmets etc. Now if only I had a saved game so I could see the exact items. [ 10-22-2002, 12:17 PM: Message edited by: pritchke ] |

actually -6, -12 and -16 not much diff due to the fact nothing is that hard in bg except maybe sarevok and a few others, i say this because once you get low ac like that then (for most monsters) its a 20 on a d20 to hit you and it will always be a 20 regardless of what extra ac you have, all i want the extra ac for is not to supertank someone i already got that, but to round my party members off, and yes im prepared to go through core rules to get it afterall its a computer game which i already completed once the proper way, now i want to get the most out of the game and for me thats making the best chars i possibly can, done it through fair means so now its foul time
