I got IWD for about a year and a half ago, and played it through a couple of times. Then I went back to BG2, and uninstalled IWD.
However, now that I'll soon be getting IWD2, I thought that it would be fun to play through IWD one more time first. So I insert the disc, and the menu pops up. But then the 'Install'-button is all greyed out, and I'm sure that I uninstalled it. Very well, so I start to play it instead, I thought. So I press the 'Start'-button, only to get the error: "Error starting application. File IDMain.exe could not be found" and: "Error retrieving path information from the Registry. Please run the application manually by double-clicking it's icon in the Windows Explorer." What the..., I thought, as I just did that. Then, as a last resort, I try to Uninstall the game, is that button isn't greyed out. But did it work? No. "Unable to locate the installation log file 'C:\Program Files\Black Isle\Uninst.isu'. Uninstallation will not continue." What is going on here? Anybody encountered this solution before, and found a way to solve it? Any help appreciated, this is starting to get on me nerves. Thanks on forehand. |

Exxon, I've run into this same problem with the BG games. Sometimes the unistallation process leaves indications in the OS that the program is still installed. It looks like you'll need to manually uninstall the remaining traces of the game from your machine. I'm going to poke around and see if I can find some instructions on how to do that. If I have any luck I'll post the info back here for you.

I actually know how to do this, and you were right - the uninstaller had left a trace of it, which I found, amd deleted it. It works fine now. Thanks a bunch for the pointer, Cyril. |

Glad to see that you were able to get the game up and running!
Good gaming and good luck with IWD 2 when you get hold of it.
