Can anyone tell me what it means when the install wizard tells me to insert Disk 0 with the file data4.cab on it? I used Explorer to look at both disks and could not find the file.

Could someone look on their disks and tell me where it is.. maybe I overlooked it, but I doubt it?

Do I just have a bad disk?

Thanks for your help.

Humm... I heard about that error sometime ago, but I forgot what I heard. Try inserting the first cd again, and see what it does.

Be reminded that Interplay will and must replace it if it's bad so don't worry.

For something like this, it's best to go to the official site and get some tech help:

http://icewind2.blackisle.com

They should be able to help you out, one way or another. Be sure to have your system specs handy, because they may need those.

Well, I got hold of Interplay today, they walked me through system optimization. Didn't help in the end. Different problem, though. I can complete an installation right up to the point that it asks for disk 1 again and then the install crashes.

It may be my system has a problem, 'cause I'm running a Pent Celeron 400 - which would be marginal at best.

I appreciate the input.

The people / site to get hold of are interplay. Black Isle site is about hyping and selling product.

If I figure it out, I'll put the solution here. I hope the solution is not buying a new computer.

I have a pentium II 333, so that is not the problem.

Yes im on a 450mhz celeron and it plays fine here however I *did* experience initial crashing problems during the installation too and I found out why and sorted it in the end but I need to know one thing firstly : Do you have a Cd-Writer on your Pc?

I had the same problem with another game, BG2:ToB, when about 97% of the game has been installed, it asks for disk 0 with the data4.cab blah, blah.... and you have no other choice but to cancel the installation. I have not played that wonderful game bcoz of that blasted error. Are the publishers aware of this?! (i hope)

Balhifet try copying all the BG2 cd's to your hard drive (youll need some space) and installing it from there - I had a similiar prob with BG2 also (and still do) so I installed it from C: and it works fine.
