I just don't get it! I've started the whole golden skull quest, killed the lich to get the arms and legs, and have finally killed the one in the bridge district to get the torso. The thing is, where's the torso? And what's the point of the twisted rune thing? I got the eye from the beholder, put it in the vat of blood or whatever it is, clicked on that other contraption on the other side of the room, and my whole party was transported out of the room without a torso! (Please note that I quick saved the game before doing the transport thing.) So, where do I find the torso? It took me forever to kill these guys, and I really don't want to have to do it again. Thanks!

Twisted Rune has nothing to do with the quest you're talking about.
Torso is somewhere else. no spoiler, but a hint, the torso place looks almost exactly the same as the place you get the quest and the place you get the other parts of the lich. if on the road of your adventure, you've seen certain place looks exactly like that...it should be it.

ADD:
there's not just ONE lich in the bridge district, the one in the Twisted Rune is not the one you're looking for.

btw, congrats for surviving the twisted rune ...IIRC, this is your first run of SoA right?

While the Twisted Rune still made it into the game its point did not
Like many other things in SoA (Ever noticed the black Lotus dialogue at the city gates?) the Twisted Rune is part of a quest that was intended for the game but has not been finished before release. So basically there's no point except for the loot and the XP but there's a mod named "Unfinished Business" in development who will patch together these quests.
Meanwhile you should install the Baldurdash patches which contribute (lbeit very little) to that quest too.

Sounds to me like you haven't killed the lich who has the torso yet. The Twisted Rune is a whole 'nother ballgame. Try knocking on a few other doors in the Bridge District and see what you turn up.

Well the torso can be found near Twisted Rune.
ADD]Yes go knockin` on doors in the Bride District but you must have a Rouge Stone in your inventory.

It seems like he already knocked on THAT door. He now needs to knock on the door next to it to face an easier Lich whom he can loot for the bodyparts he actually seeks.

An adventurer goes with the moon...
he enters in a small building...
a Golden Skull is what he finds...
the Skull asks"Can you help me"?
Adventuer says"Of course"...
"How can I help you"he says...
"My parts will glow in the moonlight"...
"But how does one follows a moon"?
"You will find my torso in a place wich usually connects land over the water..."
"You mean Bridge?"
"Yes..."
"Where on the Bridge can i seek?"
"Seek and you shall find"...
"What do you mean you stupid Skull?"
"Where the piece of red cloth takes you, there you will find my torso..."
"Stop babbling in riddles"...
"Go now,and come back when you find it..."

Anyone care to tell me, what is this "Twisted rune" business so many people seem to mention, has it got something to do with the skinner murders and that gang?

Yes Twisted Rune is connected with Skinner Murders.

Twisted Rune is a gang and a very interesting battle. And tough too...
The Twisted Rune has nothing to do with the skinner murders. The TR is another unfinished quest, but finished as such that you still get to fight the group. The reason for fighting the group is a very powerful artifact that they carry, which obviously belongs to you ( ) and you should retrieve it.

Now, just explore ALL the doors in the bridge district and eventually you'll find another lich whichs carries the torso. It shouldn't take you more than 10-15 minutes to find it.

So te be completely clear here:
- in the bridge district, there is a single lich which is part of a quest and carries a quest-item.
- And there also is a group of enemies, of whom one of them is also a lich, who are part of NO quest and simply have a powerful item.
