Ok, the Equalizer sword looks nice, it's pretty good against extreme alignments, but seriously, it could have been better for the trouble you go to get the three pieces, and you all know it. So what is everyone's opinion on this matter?

It sucks.

Oops, did I say that out loud? I mean...

... it suckssss.

Seriously, for all the trouble you went through to get it, it is not worth the effort.

Ok Longsword, but way too bad to be split up in three pieces. The Equalizer is long down on my list over the best Longswords.

The Equalizer blows. Especially since you get it near the end of the game where there are way better swords out there.

I have to agree, The Equalizer looks real cool, but it is all show(Kinda like some people). There are much cooler swords to be had at the point where you can get it.

Fully agreed with all of the above.

For what you have to go through to get it, it is a ridiculously pitiful sword. I'm not sure what the designers were thinking here. If it were upgradable in ToB then I could understand, but really! Even with Carsomyr the Holy Avenger, it's a +5 sword and you only have to slay a dragon to get it.

Also why give you the first piece so early on and then have you looking in every nook and cranny for the rest of the game? This just made it even worse

Its not worth it, the only good thing about it is using it on chaotic evil and lawful good things, but i wouldnt recommend using it.. like other people said there are much better swords. Hell, i prefer my mardakenians swords to the equalizer!!

The Equalizer is fairly useless in a strategic sense.

In a roleplaying sense, however, the weapon would be the sword of choice in a party of druids led by a true neutral fighter. They could wander around hitting anybody that was too good or too evil with sling bullets, and then the fighter could wade in and finish them off with the sword.

In various permutations of true neutral characters, wielding The Equalizer would make sense.

Which does bring up another point: why are there so few excellent clubs in the game. I went all the way through the end of TOB, and Jaheira was wielding the same undead-killing club almost the whole time.

The best club if really found (off the top of my head) is the Gnasher, +2
