well, ive been in a tiny eigth floor room with noone to talk to for the last week, so ive been able to do lots of thinking. and during that thinking, i have come to the conclusion that the fighter/mage may be the most powerful class in ToB. let me explain (but im not sure if thisll work, havent tested yet)
Timestop
Improved Alcarity (i was trying to find a use for this spell)
Whirlwind Attack
Critical Strike

if those 4 spells are cast in that order, you can get 9-10 Critical Hits in 1 round! even if theyre immune to critical hits, thats 9 guaranteed hits in a row anyways, and the target isnt given any time to heal. so therefore, that possibly makes the f/m the most powerful class in bg2, however i am yet to test this out (its still just a theory).

I think the Improved Alacrity only removes the "one spell per round" penalty and allows you to compress spells together as fast as the casting time allows (this is a very useful spell by the way, especially with the robe of Vecna and the Amulet of Power). The Time Stop/fight technique is very effective, and you will face at least one opponent who emplys it against you (or poor Minsc in my case).

Just for referance, a lot of enemies in TOB are immune to Time Stop. As in you will cast it, your party will stop movement, but your enemy will keep fighting. Consiquently this is almost just like the enemy casting it for himself. Just thought you might want to marinade on that as well.

actually, i only know of one or 2 that are immune to time stop, and thats only a vessel to allow improved alcarity to be cast (too damn long casting time!). usage of special abilities take up the spell casting for the round, and so do potions, and i think(not sure) that w/ improved alcarity on you can use potion after potion. as i said, i am yet to try this out. if it works, the Fighter/Mage will ascend to new heights. if not, o damn theyre still damn powerful!
