While playing Baldur's Gate II in Irenicus' dungeon, i've suffered numerous slowdowns and a few crashes. This doesn't happen in any other game. I only noticed this recently (my old game was working fine). And my old game stills works fine: the problem seems to be isolated to only Irenicus' dungeon. I've noticed extreme slowdown in the beholder lair due to the improved Beholder scripts; do you think that a mod has caused the slowdown in Irenicus' dungeon? The most recent mod i've installed that affects the area is Tactics v21.

I have a pentium 4 1.8 Ghz, 512mb RAM, 128MB geforce fx5200.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hmm. Did you install the official patch before or after the fixpack?

before.

Also, i think it's something that I have done recently, considering that I've been playing for months with my previous party with only a slowdown in script intensive areas like the beholder's lair with Xyx's improved beholder scripts installed.

After killing the Ilyich crew, the situation seems to have improved a lot. I think their scripts were causing the slowdown. Can anyone corroborate this with their own experiences?

Well, I doubt it's your hardware, since I'm running a Duron 700 with 128megs of RAM. The graphics card doesn't matter....unless you have the 3D Graphics acceleration turned on. Your GeForce might be trying to render the effects in 3D, and since Baldur's Gate doesn't have any 3D graphics, your GeForce gets in a snit and decides to go in the corner and sulk.

The only time I suffer real slowdown with my system is when it's trying to think about massive amounts of stuff, like everybody in the Ritual map running at me at the same time.

You might also have lots of programs running in the background on your computer, which eats up available RAM for running games. Since you only report the slowdown on Baldur's Gate, this is unlikely, but it's still possible.

There are some areas of the game where a script is checking your inventory, and if you have Ease Of Use on and have, like, thousands of arrows and stacks of gems, it can bog down. But I don't know if Ilych has a script like that, and besides, you probably don't have that many items at this point in the game,
