Hey all
I was going to head out today to buy a GeForce 2, so i went to Circuit City's website to check the prices. Now, the I/O Magic GeForce2 32MB AGP is $59.99 with a 3.4/5 customer rating, while the I/O Magic GeForce2 MX400 64MB AGP is $79.99 with a measley 2.7/5 rating. Now, just so you know, I'm supposed to get AGP, not PCI, so I'm set there. I would get a geforce4 except im paying myself and don't want to deplete my account So which is better?

Neither. Geforce 2 tech is out of date, so you'll be kicking yourself in a month when it won't play the latest game.
Circuit City has a Geforce 4 MX400 for $100. Still a little crusty, but way better than any Geforce 2 going. If you buy either of the cards you mention, to be blunt you're wasting your money.

You can play with them.. but not with full details, of course. Prices just seem way too high.. they´re worth around 35-50 bucks nowadays.

While the Geforce2 isnt so old that its useless, you dont really want to be buying one now. Especialy not an MX.
Shop around and see if you cant get yourself a geforce4 or a decent radeon. In the long run, they're far better value. Course, depending on your motherboard, you might not even be able to run any of those cards. Happened to me. But if its down to those two cards, get the 64Mb one. The difference in price is tiny compared to the difference in having the extra VRAM.

Well, the GeForce4 MX ís basicly nothing more then a modified 2. Still, not the worst deal imaginable
You wont get some of the nifty special effects in games though... |

It all depends what GeForce2 you're talking about. Oddly enough, the GeForce2 Ti line can churn out much better graphics than a GeForceMX (usually 1.5 times better, depending on which benchmarks you're using). If it's a GeForce2 Ti, go with that one.

when i bought my new comp, i chose to buy GeForce 3 Ti-200 128mb. I didn't care about the newer ones, and it was quite cheap too compared to other cards. And it's working fine.
