NBC just broke into programming to announce that Coalition Forces targeted a building that they had reason to believe that S., U., and Q., with other senior Iraqi officials, were having a meeting in. They sent in a B-1 with 2000lb "bunker buster" bombs. Sources in Baghdad say that there is nothing left but a crater. I'll believe it when it has been confirmed.

Yeah, I just heard that. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In a residential area...all that is left is a freaking huge hole. I hope their is enough evidence there to identify them...

Conflicting sources say that the youngest son may have been seriously injured in the first strikes of the war and is said to be in a hospital in Damascus, Syria but yeah, U.S. Officials are "confident" that Saddam, his elder son and top officials of his regime were in the residence bombed.

It'll be amazing to see how they prove it after 4 2000lb "bunker busters" were dropped leaving a "40-50 meter crater filled with dust behind"...talk about "overkill" LOL.

There's some talk that there may have been a bunker complex under that place. Some reports are now calling it a "commercial" complex, instead of a residential complex.

I've also heard that the video yesterday or the day before of Saddam taking a stroll down a street may have actually been the real thing and thatit may have been shot in the very same neighborhood where Saddam was hiding. Furthermore, intel may have looked carefully at that tape, figured out where in Baghdad it was and then vectored on the special forces teams in Baghdad to that neighboorhood to search for So-Damn Insane. (I heard this on FOX News from Rita Crosby within around 10pm ET.)

A restaurant from what I've gathered...with the possibility of having a bunker under it. Top officials are more confident that they "got him" this time but they still say there is a slight chance he may have escaped through the bunker before the bombs were dropped.

Rita Crosby...I could never understand her excitement until today, it seems she has a lot of "personal information sources" that can feed her very detailed information. With the chance (finally lol) to cut loose with some of that information tonight, she spilled the beans on the CIA's "cracking" of the communications code in the "jaguar" system that the British sold Saddam during or after The Gulf War and how he has been so closely monitored ever since (since none of his doubles use it). She is one of those overly-enthusiastic reporters that just gives me the creeps...she can't hide the fact that she loves sensationalism.

I was unaware until recently that the building hit was so near the parade grounds and other locations that the Americans have gained control over. Word is that they have special ops forces working on the scene (undercover still I would imagine) and that they also have DNA to confirm the identity of any bodies (or parts) that can be taken out of the rubble.

Let's hope.

No. It's not true. I have it on good authority (The Indian Newspaper "The Hindu") that a reliable source (an unnamed former aide of Saddams) informed us all that Saddam is in Tikrit, and not Baghdad.

I dont care if they killed Saddam or what, they dropped four huge bombs in a neighborhood on what appeared to be an apartment complex and left a sixty foot deep crater and blew out windows for 300 yards. I saw the neighborhood kids looking at the crater on the tv.

Am I the only one who finds this disturbing and immoral, using massive bombs in residential areas?

Why couldnt they send one of those massive armor coloumns over to take them out personally and have definite proof of termination.

Oh come on Chewbacca. The whole thing is immoral. War, Husseins government. Everything. It's Babylon after all. Why is Hussein hiding in residential areas? Why is Hussein free from blame if Iraqis die? How is a hostage taker free from blame if the sniper shoots a hostage while taking down the hostage taker?? There's fault on ALL sides. But most of all Husseins.

1.Why has Huseein abused the people he is meant to protect?
2.Why didn't Hussein avoid the death of his people and take the exile option?
3.Why has Hussein hidden targets amidst large populations?

Yes it's disturbing and immoral, but who in this whole f**king mess is innocent? War is a HUMAN problem. It takes at least two to tango.

OK. Imagine that OBL is holed up in an large appartment block in NY.
Would the army obliterate the entire block (OBL and everyone in it) just to get at OBL?

Would they???
