How does time work in BG2. Do you have time to complete al the quests in the game. Or can you run out of time is you do this.
The only time a time limit has been mentioned so far is in the Underdark when you are given a set time to do a certain quest. |

You can just prance around Amn liesurely doing quests etc. and not worry about time. Even if it takes you 1000 days to make it to Chapter 3 it won't be affected. There are some time sensitive quests such as the one mentioned by you already, but they give you enough time to get to the place and not worry.

most of the NPC quets are time affected
i.e. if you wait too long until you: go to Nalia's fathers funeral, meet Anomen's dad, find the book for Korgan, help Mazzy's sister, ... the NPC will start to complain and eventually leave the party if you take to olong.

quote: Initating the major quests (rescue Imoen, the Cult of the Eyeless, etc) you can take forever and and a day to start them. they will wait for you. In fact , many of them will give you unlimited time to complete them as well. The ones with time limits are the ones that say "be here in 3 days" or " be here in 1 hour". If you don't get that , but just a generalized "hurry hurry hurry" , ignore it. The whole game say's hurry hurry hurry but you're toast if you skip anything and arrive at the final battle unprepared and too low in level.

Another thing that's interesting is that the game will sometimes ignore the time of day if it needs to. For instance, I just left the Underdark (thereby entering Chapter 6) and went to Waukeen's Promenade to sell our excess gear. There, we were accosted by a messenger who informed Nalia that she had to attend her father's funeral. So it was broad daylight at Waukeen's, but as soon as we hit the Graveyard District (Travel Time: 0 Hours), it was suddenly midnight.
(And yes, I do know why it had to nighttime.)

Time doesn't meen jack shit.
Only thing to know that 8 hours in real life = 24 hours in game.
