Importing From BG (Spoilers)

Ok, it's been a long while since I last did this.

But, IIRC, when you import your BG character, you start with no items.

I also recall, that you find a chest with your imported equipment in[/i]

Now, my question is, what equipment gets imported? IIRC, it's only certain items, no weapons and stuff etc? I'm just wondering exactly what imported equipment gets taken across...

Because, if you start with a new character, you don't have any equipment to import?

As far as I know, only the *hem* pantaloons follow you over, if you have them.

you get almost none of your equipment except

pants (if you have them)

plus one of helm of balduran or claw of kazorath (i think) or maybe one or two others

a new character (with no equipment) gets the helm

So what happens if you have the helm & the claw in BG1?

And which would you rather have, for the start of BG2?

Actually when you import your character, if you press pause while the screen is still black before you see the scene with Irenicus, if you press I and go to the inventory, all your items will be there, if you put them all on the ground, the items will still be there when you control your character.

Dont drizzt's items get imported too?

Drizzt items do get imported, but they disappear from your inventory, unless you do the above described trick.
If you have them in your inventory when you import your character...

BIG SPOILER AHEAD!

Later in the game, close to its end, you will meet Drizzt and his party looking for a hammer that belongs to one of his fellows. And Drizzt, will have an "aggressive" attitude towards you, for killing him in BG1 and stealing his items.
